Dawntrail presents multitude amount of narrative issues but if you ask general player what they feel in a literary discussion, it's normal to immediately latch onto any 'easily identifiable/noticeable issues' while forgoing other on-going issues. With so many screen time given to her (which by itself is also an issue)... yeah, not surprising. Understandable and unfortunate circumstances.
Or you could discuss the on-going issues. Like, I can tell you, easily, the issue that I think most people really have with Dawntrail; it's after two expansion that are largely focused on the Warrior of Light, returning to the older method where we're just along for the ride feels a bit jarring.

That could be a reason to dislike the VA, but not the character. But I imagine she's a bit defensive online because of the sort of folks that call her an "it". (It takes like five second to Google what she wants to be called but I guess that's too much.)

And considering how Dawntrail's voice acting was a mixed bag all around and improved in the patches. I'm pretty sure that "SPLEEEEEEN" line was a problem with the voice direction.
