That all seems reasonable given the color variations and the one not shown. Zeid's not a mission girl obviously, but then neither is Shantotto.

Kind of seems like a shame to have Lilisette and Shantotto when they mostly don't have unique outfits, while leaving out Lion and Aphmau who do though.

being fair Shantotto is THE XI girl who gets all the fun xover stuffs so her outfit was definitely going to happen in one raid or another.
And I do feel like the xi Dancer gear was heavily requested because its STYLIN but also most Aiming gear even now does still not exactly scream "Dancer".
Blessedly this set isnt needlessly worse-on-males like most decidedly-feminine gear.

Im hoping against hope that Prishes set is indeed Prishes Set and we get it from a coffer like 2Bs set because I do not care much for monk or samurai

Well the first raid had five unique looks and two recolors, let's hope fending and maiming are two unique sets and not just one and a recolor.

DNC AF and Relic? Prishe's outfit? Robes that are too long again?

I wonder if Prishe's outfit will be role locked or from a coffer like 2B's or a cash shop thing.

Eh, I think they're still going with NPC outfits. It just so happens that Lilisette was wearing the DNC AF1 save for the headpiece (which is why it is a feather instead of a rose).

As for robes that are too long, I'm more curious if the white robes only look long because that's how they decided to model it on the Lala? The caster set is Shantotto in her more iconic set, while the white healer version looks to be an alternative version she wore for one of their mini-expansions (I didn't play it), which is basically her wearing the player's Errant set. I'm assuming/hoping the caster and healer set have the same base model (as usual), because the Errant set in FFXI never went that much further beyond the hips. I would be disappointed if they decided to elongate the healer set here for no reason other then to slightly differentiate it from the caster set (which they have in the past) when the body piece it is inspired by is supposed to be shorter.

The male version was in the LL, but it was the Relic version with white and blue instead of red and black.

A part of me is a little worried though that that might have been the Scouting version perhaps... As they infrequently use the same model, just recolored like casters/healers. I'm hoping I'm wrong, otherwise I feel kinda bad for Ninjas and Vipers. The only other explanation is that they decided to model the Aiming set again on a male model to showcase the two dye channels turning it into the DNC AF2 Etoile set (which was basically just a recolor, as most AF2 were)..?

I also find it kind of humorous that this is where they decided not to create gendered differences for the Aiming set, when the male version of DNC AF in XI was probably one of the few pieces to have differences from the female. Their shirt being slightly open down from the neck in the front, rather than some sort of midriff like the females. And of course missing the skirt altogether.

I just wish instead of giving us role gear, they would have added the relic/mythic/empy gear for each class instead.

I'd prefer that too; having more iconic player-centric sets and favorites instead of NPC cosplays. But the problem with relic/mythic/empy gear as an alliance raid drop is that they would obviously be tailored to one job of a particular role, and the others sharing it sort of miss-out. Granted, that bandaid sort of has been ripped-off already, and there are a few examples already (just look at BRDs and MCHs having to wear DNC AF this tier, and the current tomestone tier healers obviously going with a WHM aesthetic).

I would be perfectly fine with job specific gear instead of role specific gear. If they wanted to make it easier to get a certain piece, all they would have had to do was offer a token to trade for the piece of your choice instead of a piece of actual gear. Not everything, imo, needs to be available to every job and it would go a long way at least giving us an illusion of class fantasy. But I also really hate the role gear, esp since its all seems to lean towards the aesthetics of one job out of the bunch anyway and completely locks out any chance of getting gear with job specific stats, like bonuses to songs/dances or buffs to summons/fairies.

I really love the DNC set, and I think it's the right decision not to make a variation of it. But ngl... for the first time in a long time I wanted the male version of that set from FFXI:



It looks like a male spanish torero mixed with flamenco dancer.

But maybe with the right pants and shoes I can get a similar silhouette by using the set we're getting.

This might look amazing on males, I'm quite hopeful that it is. The fitted upper area is REALLY nice...but the lowerrrr parrt...that will depend on how it dyes I suppose. The other outfits are cute too, but I just think that first one is QUITE striking!!
