They are not typing because they are playing. Most people play with their keyboard, so the fingers are usually already busy pushing the buttons since we usually speedrun dungeons. It's difficult to type banter when you are actively engaging in gameplay.

I mean, I don't think anybody would know for sure why those people were silent to begin with. But like Avoidy's, my experience usually entails something of similar. Outside greetings and farewells, rarely anything were said that I began to think the greeting itself felt superficial I eventually stopped doing that as well.

The last 'memorable' convo I recalled came from that one SMN who thanked me for always pulling mobs into their Slipstream. Since I happened to have Salted Earth active at the same time and overlapped with their Slipstream I just stopped rq to wrote "Your Slipstream is married to my Salted Earth" lol, and that was like back in EW days I think.

"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."

Unfortunately, the lack of fun interaction stems from both SE and the players. As yesnt notes, it's become meta to speed run everything, and even content that could be designed to promote conversation such as Cosmic Explo was instead a mad rush to get everything done.

I don't think people quit chatting because they were worried about consequences. It really isn't difficult to be pleasant. But the faster-faster-faster nature of the game tends to preclude it.

When I do Frontlines; I have to treat it like a RNG match, because you are only 1 out of 72 people playing. You only have so much power to change the course of the match. I've tried to be helpful with shout outs of where to go, or letting the team know that were about to be pinched; but I also had a lot of fun banters with people in the alliance chat.

I have had so many people who would say things like "I am only doing this for tomes. " implying that they are not really in for trying to win, and I see comments like this between 2-3 matches. Its very common for people to openly admit they aren't really there to take the mode serious because the daily rewards outweighs the effort to put in to win. Lots of people said a bunch of questionable jokes too, and admits on giving up the matches when they know its far from a win. Sometimes all of that silly banters still gets us a win sometimes. This is why I call Frontlines an RNG match because again... you can only do so much as 1 player. I just accepted the fact that eventually I'll get my PvP mounts someday, and try to enjoy the journey of doing it once a day whenever I log in. Its always a headache when I play back to back expecting the win, and then getting frustrated at everyone who simply isn't there for the same reasons as I am. I long gave up PvP achievements for this exact reason.

OP probably had an upset individual on his team* who really didn't like players who flaked out on the match, and these people come every once and while, so it was unfortunate that he got reported; cuz honestly; its super common for people to say this stuff in Frontlines. It really is.

    On Aether they get vote-kicked.

It's fascinating how this discussion has progressed. Had OP posted on the PvP boards they would have been absolutely lacerated.

There's a big gap from throwing in a report to a GM acting on it.
Never said they didn't do anything. Im saying people have become too sensitive and saying even the slightest things can trigger people into throwing reports. Gm's wont tell you anything so there's no way you would know if they acted on it or not.

I'd suggest PvP enthusiasts tend to be thicker skinned than average. What will set them off are comments during a match that encourage throwing. I'm puzzled how we have all these critical comments in PvE about "snipers" and "prog liars," but when someone disrupts PvP it doesn't matter because PvP isn't serious content? Double standards IMO.

The acute sensitivity exhibited in this thread is from the OP, who upon receiving a mere warning from a GM uninstalled the game.

It depends on said person. Frontline is easy to que in and a part of the duty roulette so you're bound to get all sorts of people who might not care and who will care. If people are going to let shout chat become an issue it won't be long till Square enix decides to remove it entirely and give it the CC treatment to where you cannot type anything outside of specific chat commands.

I mean, a good ending in my book.

PvP enthusiasts are thick skinned, but they can also be amazingly petty, I think my least favorite type of PvP players are the ones who explain to the other team that they are losing because "someone else is throwing, please report them" (Like how pathetic do you have to be), so a random retaliatory report is possible.
