I just got an account warning for "grief tactics" and I literally have no idea why

May not have been today. Could have been within the past few days. Disruption isn't usually going to be the reason if it was just what you said in chat so if you were chatting somewhere (either the PvP instance you described or somewhere else) and not actively helping the party accomplish a goal then that could be construed that way.

I steer clear of this too. The most offensive things I've ever said in Frontlines are "Who's ready to pretend to like PvP for 20 minutes" and "hey, if we pick one side to feed, we can end it faster". I can count on one hand the number of times I've even sworn, and I didn't today.

Another thing: the match finished less than 15 minutes before the GM pulled me in, so it had to have been something in chat, otherwise there was no way they could have caught it that fast. I'm starting to think they just didn't check at all, which is honestly just frightening.

The problem is this kind of disruption is sufficiently common that the people actually trying would not have taken it as a joke.

Probably. But again, I don't say anything a reasonable person would find offensive. I don't make jokes about politics or current events or any sensitive subjects. If the sanitized jokes I make in Frontlines are enough to warrant GM action, this place isn't somewhere I want to be.

It would be really nice if SE would give more details as to what you did so you could correct the behavior, but that's not how they roll. You can appeal, but they won't give you the evidence against you so good luck.

Yeah...this is my point. People get emotionally attached to games. I can feel myself getting there. This is an awesome world with an awesome story. But I'm not taking the risk that it happens and then a capricious enforcer decides that something I said is a racial slur in Swahili and bans me over it. I've dealt with a ban in another game due to a GM's mistake and was fortunately able to get it reversed, but I don't even see an appeals process for this, and I'm not dealing with that spiraling mess again.

Already told you. Using chat for jokes in a FL match is disruptive/griefing.

Okay, now I get it. Someone taking a very obvious joke at face value, possibly for spite.

So yeah, I'm not paying money to deal with a system that allows people to do this. If I want to be deliberately misinterpreted in the worst possible way, Reddit accounts are free.

Also, the "feed them so it ends faster" comment was not something I said today, so it wasn't that.

Ah yes, making a cheesy joke is totally the same thing as property destruction.

You are a perfect example of this. Deliberately misinterpreting what I'm saying in the way that puts me in the most negative light possible. I don't know whether you're just a negative person and doing such a thing is automatic for you or if you're actually putting effort into it, and frankly I don't care. You're the sort of person I prefer to avoid, and if someone like you has the power to wield TOS as a weapon to get my account banned, I will not be wasting more time or money here.

Of course, you might have a point. Maybe I did something worse. If only they'd actually tell me so I can avoid doing it again.

This is the big one; despite your intentions, someone can very easily read this as wanting to grief if they're not in any kind of jovial mood and just want to play a match.

Can't really say I condone or condemn here, just that it's probably wiser in a more competitive environment to not joke about deciding to lose. Text can't exactly convey the light-hearted tone you were going for and it's easy for it to be misread.
