You might consider learning Japanese and playing on the JP data centers as they tend to run a lot of this content without Discord/Voice Chat. You should see the diagrams and stuff they can fit into macros.

The "you shouldn't have to X to Y" argument always makes for great forum bait since while it is not strictly required, it it a tool that makes things much easier in terms of communication, coordination, explaining, recovery, and a whole host of other things.

I personally enjoy the fact that it "requires" Discord since I find it fun to hop into a VC and just chat with people and meme around while getting prepped. I'm curious why people have an aversion to voice chat though - is it a social anxiety thing?

Similar to the reasons why an ever-decreasing number of people talk on the phone. I quit a lucrative writing contract when my editor announced we'd have a weekly Zoom meeting.

Lol, yeah. Don't take that seriously unless you're looking for an excuse to go hard on language learning. I was playing on the JP servers for a bit and conversational level is not *nearly* enough to get all the internet/mmo lingo. Mostly I was looking to comment on their method of clearing without VC.

This is interesting feedback. You need to learn another language, and in this case cultural norms, to complete the content. I highly doubt that's what square was shooting for. I'm glad this has worked for you though.


I think if you applied that level of mental fortitude to any task you'd complete it lol. I wish the game was designed to help players organize better instead of creating these arguments. This is relatively "tame" on the forums and outright violates ToS in game when a player stumbles into an organized Forked Tower run.

I'm not going to comment on your mental health point, I think you should re-evaluate what you're trying to say as it can be interoperated as being rude or dismissive. There is an issue that OC is fairly casual and then has content that is arguably harder than savage in it. Regardless of tools used for organization outside the game, it's going to create frustration in the player base as it throws you to the wolves to learn or frustrate 47 other players.
