Seasonal events in FFXIV are bad.

They should bring back all the minigames, Fates and such and let us farm tokens to buy things from past events. Just make them non-tradable like they currently are to keep them out of the MB if needed.

Ppl can still sell bound items with a little more effort, so I can't see SE having an old event shop in-game.

I don't mind the short events, I just pop into town with the NPC and walk away 5 minutes, and I'm on my way back to my usual dailies. I honestly resent farm/grind for event tokens, like 9/10 it will be a FATE farm, and I'm so tired of them.

As one of the minority with my opinion im glad they are short and quick, dont wanna bother with eventquest, the best for me would be "let me talk to the npc and give me the reward without even moving" no need for something long and annoying

If the choice is between short and quick and long and annoying, I agree.

But whatever happened to "long and interesting." You know, engaging content.

Why play the game when you can grab your free thing and play something else? That's why I play like $15 a month

Exactly, I'm asking for engaging content. I definitely wouldn't want SE to say something like "How about you farm ARR fates forever" like some other event quest that repeated somewhat recently. Actual engaging content is the ask. Or at the very least, interesting.

Not offensively bad. Just... soulless. They're two yellow quests, a quick cutscene, and a maybe a glam or emote if we are lucky. Fifteen minutes of content, tops.

And sure, they’ve always been lighthearted. But somewhere along the way, they stopped feeling like events and started feeling like chores with a costume attached. No group duties. No gameplay. No reason to interact with it once you complete it.

What’s wild is that they could be more. This game has tried before with a haunted house during Halloween, or Valentione’s Ceremony, where players had to work together to solve a maze and match memory cards. These were light, playful glimpses of what seasonal content could look like. But they were one-offs: quick, shallow, and with no reason to return. Other MMOs build seasonal events around progression, currencies, or replayable activities. FFXIV shows sparks of that potential, but never follows through. It's frustrating to see something that could be so much more just quietly fade after one run.

I’m not asking for the world. I’m just asking for something worth showing up for.

Other games at least try. WoW brought back a whole dungeon as a raid for its 20th anniversary. Was it perfect? No. But it was ambitious. It was something. FFXIV doesn’t need to copy that, but it wouldn’t kill Square to give us a reason to log in that isn’t just “get your item before it hits the Mog Station.”

And yeah, these events aren’t the core of the game. But they’re still part of its rhythm. They decorate the cities. They show up in the Lodestone, get a blip on social media, and become the backdrop for countless screenshots. They matter. They’re chances to celebrate the world, the community, the stories we’ve been part of for years. Right now, they just feel like a checklist.

FFXIV is better than this. That’s why it’s disappointing.

Some of them are more interesting than others it really depends. I do admit they've been mostly lack luster since Covid hit.

While just being quests I felt like the last few holiday events have had amazing story telling if you pay attention to it.
It may go under the radar but it's where a lot of the young up and comers get to test themselves. So I'm looking forward to what they do in bigger roles

Would be kinda neat if they used these events to sort out some of the issues in city states. Heck, touch on the whole Keeper and Duskwight issue in Gridania. But instead of interesting worldbuilding, we get "Oh nyoooo, will it be okay if I wear a tuxedooo instead of a dresssss" WEAR THE DAMNED TUXEDO GIRL, ROCK IT AND MOVE ON. WE GOT ACTUAL ISSUES TO SOLVE IN THIS SOCIETY.

I love logging in for 2 minutes then logging off to play something else for a game i pay monthly for
great game guys, just delete raids and stuff and give me the mounts and gear for talking to a yoshi P npc
