Difficult experience in Forked Tower – a reminder to respect public content

I know someone will twist this into me being a Discord overlord that has personally tankbustered 50 randoms and would tankbuster another 50, but I have to ask this question.

If there's so many people who absolutely hate joining Discords but also want to attempt the tower, what exactly is stopping them from going into an instance without an organised group (because there definitely aren't enough organised runs to fill every single instance of South Horn in the DC) and using shout chat to organise their own run? Why perpetuate the back-and-forth hate by clashing with organised groups in the same instance?

I would imagine nothing to not very much, it's just the will of people to do it is very low.
I haven't attempted to try to load into the tower yet, but since release I have only seen one shout chat message in OC asking people if they want to do the tower.

People here are turned off because *raiders* told them they could never do it. Heck look at this thread. Someone in an earlier post said "Pugs can never get past boss 2" or something in that regard and quite literally said its not doable without discord. If you as a casual player are interested in trying it and people already tell you over and over again that "lol this content isnt meant to be puggable" and "join a discord" then how would you feel? They have been told repeatedly (in my case anyways I dont speak for everyone) that they will never be able to clear the content at all and that if you really want to do it you have to do it via discord. The will to pug it is gone because even if you shout in an instance you will be redirected to one of the numerous discords instead and laughed at by half the instance for even attempting to try it. /shrug

As for why people still try to (in your words) "clash" with premades is that it might be the one and only time for them that there are more than 16 people interested in the instance and they really want to check it out and give it a try. Maybe they tried to organise before. Who knows.

And no, I dont (entirely) blame the discords for it and I dont think you are an evil discord overlord.

A couple of friends of mine on Hyperion were actively trying to get into Forked Tower this way, not with any expectations of clearing, they just wanted to get into it and try it in any respect. They were never able to even get enough people to enter much less prog, hahaha

Ive seen people trying to and they are either met with radio silence or a lengthy explanation saying the content is too hard to run like that.

I have nothing against more casual or random players wanting to attempt Forked Tower, in fact it’s probably not even Savage level more Extreme to low end Savage at the most, but that fact is SE have designed this content in such a way that not going with an organised group puts you at quite a considerable disadvantage… There are mechanics in this raid where one person’s mistake can kill everyone else and kick you out of the raid altogether and you have no way of dodging these personal responsibility mechanics - any of them can single you out:

1) Placing a meteor on the wrong side of Boss 1 can potentially kill everyone
2) Not stretching your tether fully makes your Snowball invulnerable and unkillable in Boss 2 causing a wipe
3) Standing in the wrong place on Boss 2 on Fireball towers as a Healer/DPS can kill a lot of people with your cleave and spiral into a wipe
4) Popping a super landmine by running ahead of a Thief can potentially kill most if not the whole raid
5) Not using a Bard stun at the right time on some enemies on the Bridge will lead to a wipe
6) Not using your Phantom abilities on Hallways, Bridge or Lockwards adds can wipe the raid
7) Not standing with the rest of the group to bait a cleave correctly can kill everyone on Boss 3
8) Not taking a puddle to the right spot on Boss 4 can kill most if not the whole raid

The fact is the design ethos of this raid clashes directly with the entry mechanism, the raid itself is incredibly punishing and not PUG friendly in the slightest, I think this is a real shame because as many players as possible should be able to enjoy it, so if you want to blame anyone blame the devs since they cited cost as being the reason that there was no Forked Tower Normal and said they didn’t realise a Normal mode is something people wanted which is a massive L take…

Not to mention that if an unprepared person gets the meteor stack jump on boss 1, they will kill all meteor players (8? 16?), lol.

No one wants to try it that's in the instance. Either they are players that have no interest in doing it, or are players that have heard the (not always true, not always false) horror stories of the content, and don't want the hassle.
I've seen several people try to rally others in an OC instance to go in. They never work. They either are met with radio silence or get the same Discord servers regurgitated back at them to go there.

I have nothing against any people who run and/or enjoy Discord servers for content like this, but there are a not-small group of players that view having to rely on them for a piece of content annoying.

Without a doubt, the most out-of-touch thing ever said in a Live Letter. "Let's make a piece of supremely casual content and cap it off with a raid random players can't do." Whoever made that call shouldn't be involved in content design.

I'm perfectly willing to accept that they only had the time/resources to make one version of it, but the choice they made is insane.
