I can't count the number of times I saw people here crying about the Endwalker relics and wishing it was "just like ARR and HW again". Well, there's the FATE grinding and Atmas, wish granted I'd say.

There are now countless free games with far more content that is more engaging than what we get here. There are even old MMOs that have been newly revived (HorizonXI, WoW Classic) since 2015 that have grown in popularity. Square Enix Co., Ltd.'s Creative Studio III can no longer act like we have no choice. WoW isn't a sinking ship, Chinese games aren't scams, and Final Fantasy is no longer an esteemed brand.

This post feels like a non sequitur.

Bearing in mind that I have made several posts critical of the new relic grind, the reason we have a grind now is to address the issue that there was no reason to log in anymore.

A lot of the people being like "people wanted a grind, now they don't want to grind" are just falling victim to the goomba fallacy (I just learned what that was recently and I'm so glad we have a name for this now). But I legitimately do not know what you want.

I DID want a grind. I wanted a reason to play FF14. I actually have gone back and played WoW some due to having nothing to do in this game (they're not happy over there right now btw). My problem is I didn't want the grind to be based on RNG.

What did you want, then? Did you actually want to go back to the tomestone thing where we had nothing interesting to log in for except raids? Because if they did that, I think they would be much more guilty of being lazy and taking us for granted than with this new relic. They actually put effort into making a brand new zone and everything this time.

Final Fantasy XIV has lost over 650,000 players since its peak in 2021. That's a 50% drop. They don't agree with you and shareholders don't either. So you could be right, sure. But in the end, you will lose.

2020/2021 was a peak for a lot of games due to Covid, plus the era the game was in which we will see if they are able to build towards again.

You come to explain that players have options, as though the devs are unaware of this - yet you spend your time here instead of with all those amazing options you claim we have for MMOs.

I don't know what you what you think I am "losing" as I'm not a shareholder or employee of Square Enix. You thinking there is some argument or battle to be "won" is absurd. The MMO division is still it's primary profit division and is performing better than the other gaming divisions, so for now it's fine. The game will be around for quite a while, but games 11+ years old will be bound to slow down at some point.
