AFK Autologout needs to come back in some degree

They need to have more GM's in the cities waiting for the bots to appear to ban them on the spot, it's easy to spot the bots and the GM's have access to the tools that let them see the bot's activity history to differentiate from legit players. Then have more GM's go to all other places like MSQ quest locations and ban more bots too.

They don't even need GMs for that purpose. I keep saying that coding in an instant disconnect and 30 minute ban for any player detected -x criteria under the map, followed by a permanent ban for the second offense should be a no-brainer, and i keep getting shouted down by useful idiots asking "what if someone accidentally clips down there?"

As if that happens just all the time. I can count on zero fingers the number of times I've fallen below the gods damned geometry, and thats what the 30 minute cooldown is for.

Dont do that again.

In any case, a similar computer solution is obviously to just start a timer on afk status. I don't know why thats hard either.

The game has fewer players than it did on Shb launch and we have a lot more servers than we did back then. The chances of your server having been at capacity recently are legitimately 0.0%.

You were almost certainly just trying to log in at the same time as a hunt train was starting on your server, so the server was processing a lot of logins at the same time.

There has not been a single time since the launch of Dawntrizzle where I logged right in and didn't at least get auto-delayed for... some reason.

That queue on login exists as something of a DDoS protection. I think I've only ever not gotten that queue logging in at some godforsken hour in the morning, normally it's 10-15 people and at busier times 20-30. It does mean people are logging into their characters at that time, but not that the world is actually congested. The only ways to tell if the world is actually congested is to DC transfer and see the list (Aether is frequently full except for a couple worlds, I've heard from other people that Balmung and Mateus tend to fill up there), or to world transfer at an aetheryte and see how long the wait is (or I guess if it doesn't allow you to transfer, I've heard people say Mateus sometimes won't allow an intra-DC transfer from players on Couerl, don't know if they received a message or if the wait was just long).

As to the topic, it probably would help some of the fuller world's congestion if people who are on an extended AFK got the boot, but the only people entitled to be on those worlds are the residents and I don't think the congestion stops them from logging in.

ETA: I can tell that Crystal has fewer people playing on it recently. Duty Finder queue times are longer and PF is a ghost town at off hours when it didn't used to be, but I'm guessing that's partly people buggering off to Aether and then not coming back plus just a general downturn in players since Dawntrail came out.

Not only would it help with congestion, but it would also fix the annoying multi-boxer AFK naked roe's who brigade servers just to be annoying and attention seeking. No more having an army of naked men on my screen when I go to check my retainers.

I'm sure players were able to circumvent it through other means
but yeah, Balmung has been congested for weeks which can be a little annoying when you're trying to get cheap items off the market

Yeah, you're referring to Endwalker, but it wasn't exactly common knowledge they were taking measures to nip those methods in the bud so I can understand someone not knowing it. Anyway, they basically tweaked it so everything but "crafting an item" would still get you for being afk and auto-boot you from the server.

Speaking of which, yeah. Synthesizing an item but never actually completing it still counts. So uh.... Might wanna fix that too SE.

It's just the login server processing people in batches, I believe as some kind of anti-DDOS measure if I remember correctly. I know you've been around both the game and the forums long enough to know that, so I'm not sure why you're just blatantly trying to dupe people, but this is just to let others reading this thread know about it.

Correct, it's anti DDOS procedure. There is no queue, you are being batch processed. The only real queues you see in this game are expansion launches.
