Lack of Cross-DC PF is getting me burnt out on XIV, and it's such an unforced error

It's weird, honestly. Data center travel is why Dynamis doesn't have a lot of people actively playing on it, but without data center travel, most of those people would probably just transfer off and newer players would likely avoid being stuck on a "dead" data center so the population would still remain low with more people leaving/avoiding then joining/staying.

Regardless if they keep or get rid of DC travel now, it won't really help Dynamis at this point because there just isn't enough incentive to make people go there and stay, not even housing was enough.

I really do feel for Dynamis, and I hope it does get on its feet eventually. The travel system right now is not helping it at all, but I also don't want people to feel trapped on Dynamis either when the population is low. We just need a better system, and I hope a lot of this feedback is being considered and being taken into account. I don't want people to think its "fine" or its "working as intended" when there is lot of cons to the travel system. It 100% can be improved, and that is what I am rooting for.

Eh... I've been playing on Dynamis since December 2022, so just a month after it came into creation, and I'm not really sure how much more time it needs to "get on its feet" two and a half years later and it still has the same population problems even after the Xbox and Dawntrail launches.

And now on top of all that, it's got Cosmic Exploration making people here feel punished for joining the "wrong data center" with consideration that some of these scorned players include those who took the chance to free transfer back in the day, now wishing they hadn't, with the added irony that a cross-DC PF wouldn't help them now anyway because CE is world-locked.

From what I remember, Dynamis did flourish okay when DC travel was turned off for a bit, but at the same time; it was during a patch launch. I don't know how well it would do during lull periods if the travel was turned off. When people advertise the DC as "dead", it doesn't really help it either. SE would have to adjust some systems around to help make it work out better. I know they can. What, how, if, and when are the questions though. I am no developer, so I can only hope honestly. All in all, I hope you are still having fun on Dynamis despite all of this.

I actually understand why CE is world-locked: they found out with Empyreum that allowing people from other worlds in to do the stuff meant residents of that world often got locked out of doing it. (Because cap on # of people who could be IN there, iirc?)

BUT, again, this garbage of them not calibrating Build Fates for population and participation to adjust progress made, and then punishing a fail with locking out of RAs and Mech Ops, is dead-wrong.

As for visits to Dynamis, it gets inhibited by "can't access retainers and gil on them, can't use mail," as part of it, IMO. And why go fight there if the queues take hours to fill, if you don't have a full party/team yourselves? Plus, I don't *think* there's even a guide for first-timers to learn *how* to DC travel, is there?

I do think allowing cross DC queues for dungeons, trials, raids, and PVP like Rival Wings could help low-pop DCs' people get to participate more, and increase the amount of folks IN those things. Including helping with MSQ-locked stuff for new players getting through it. (Crystal Tower for example.)

I don't think anyone is wanting friends to be separate from each other. None of us are thinking that when we complain about DC travel. Ironically DC travel has made people even more anti-social and separate in many cases. When you got friends who like to do many things in this game, they should be able to do it all from their home server. Someone who might enjoy cosmic exploration or island sanctuary cannot do that while waiting for a PF to fill on their own server due to the community's will to pack everyone onto one DC for PF content. I cannot talk to my friend who more or less have to go to Aether to do PF content, while I stay on my own DC to do other types of content that don't allow me to do so elsewhere. People like myself have tried to host parties from their own servers on these quiet DCs, and it just keeps failing as the practice strengthens over time. No one wants friends to be separated, and no one wants to be on a dead DC. The issue were having is that the system is incredibly flawed and needs better updates. If it doesn't get updated, I think that is a huge loss for people who innocently chose a DC that wasn't tied to some activity they may have liked. We shouldn't have to make a choice, I agree, but the game has lost a lot of its charm with this system put in place. It can be so much better, and that is what we want. We don't want the system to remain for years as is. Either shut it down or make it better.

Exactly. I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with people playing with friends but you have to take that in the context of the current situation. If your options are 1.) retain the ability to DC travel your main character to friends but annihilate most of the game and 2.) lose DC travel and make an alt, it should be pretty clear which is the lesser of two evils.

If they come up with a solution that solves all the trouble DC travel is causing while keeping the service active then great, but there has been zero indication that's on the way or even possible, so the only solution that will fully solve the problem is to turn off the service until such time as they figure it out.

I'm confident that without DC travel Dynamis would level out and grow naturally over time as typically happens in any popular MMO. How long that would take however is anyone's guess, especially after people have been socially engineered by the current situation to perceive it as dead. Had DC travel never existed in the first place Dynamis would be thriving.
