People don’t realize how easy it is to get into raiding in this game

I’ve noticed a lot of discourse about add-ons and whatever else; having to spend money on gear to join raids. When I see these complaints, I feel like these people haven’t played any other MMO’s.

I’ve played guild wars2 , Lord of the rings online, and Tera before it went defunct. In guild wars 2, people hardly pug raids, and you have to have decent gear and the Meta builds to even get considered to join a group. Lord of the rings online is a really old game and nobody is pugging tier 2+ raids (where the good gear drops.)

Tera struggled from not having much content to begin with, but let’s say you want to tank in Tera. To even be considered a viable tank and hold Aggro you had to enchant your weapon to +12 with RNG. A lot of these Asian games love the gacha rng to upgrade. So, you would waste these materials on RNG hoping to enchant your tank weapon to the next level just so you could hold Aggro.

In FF 14 the minimum is just adding materia and getting crafted gear to enter a raid with literally anyone. Yeah you may get a clear, or you may not, but at least you can enter and be on the relatively same playing field as anyone else.

edit: This literally fell on deaf ears and the whole thread turned into an anxiety/skill issue pot so nevermind I guess

To be fair the people who even actually play would not be reading this so idk what the point was

I’m honestly quite tired of these forums. first the forums want harder, normal content and then you have people quitting because it’s too hard

I think it is less realizing and more no interest in High end raiding.
I have done the Extrem content back in ARR and Heavensward level synced with Duty Finder so no premade party and I did the entire first coil of Bahamut the same way.
And I found the entire expierince miserable.
So I only ever touched this content when there was a reward or gear piece I really needed for a glam, usually by watching a Guide learning the in and outs and then using Partyfinder to get through it as quickly as possible and then never looking back.
So Endgame Raiding is the part of this game I enjoy the least amount but as it stands the Devs seem to want to funnel all players into it delieberetly cutting down any and all jobs so there is no distraction for there hardcore DDR sequences.

I agree that they don't realize it. But I actually think the primary reason, for most people, is anxiety. That anxiety can stem from:
    - Being afraid of toxicity, not understanding the difference between different types of parties ie. [Practice] vs [Duty Complete], or not understanding all the raid terminology such as DPS in | Relative | BD | TN | Tank LB3, colors, etc.
    - Thinking that they are not good at the game. Sometimes these feelings are incorrect (they are good enough), and other times it's an accurate assessment to say they are not very good yet, but they probably just don't understand a lot of basic things yet.

Anyone that thinks gear is a barrier in this game is a minority, and the recent posts on these forums certainly don't reflect the primary reasons for people avoiding it. There are people who lack gil to buy gear, but those people obviously just returned to the game and don't hardly play it and thus don't accumulate gil, not that they need it because gear drops from the normal raids.

To be honest, it's mostly because players don't want to raid. In my opinion, they don't want to raid at all despite the low requirements.

I only started farming DT Extremes, but PF is a unique form of suffering, like I'd wait 20-30 min for a farm party to fill, then disband after 3 pulls, and this would be for weeks lol. Also, you need 99 totems for trade-in, even with drop rate buffs, it's so
    slow.

Also, I'm not even counting the wasted hours for no one to join a 4/8 party since there's never enough supports available for 2-3 listings up at the same time.

I belive the disinterest in Raiding could be also related to the way it is played in FF 14. As I would see Raids in most other games... it challanges my build, the gear I wear the skills I leveld and the technik with which I perform.
Non of these elements exist in 14, Gear es incredible easy to get your hands one, we never have to spread any points between stats that happens with level up on it´s own and ever Rotation is the same between the same Jobs because again, we do not craft a build we play a role.

So in Raids it is not your build that is challanged but how well you learnd the mechanics and to make it extream even messing up once usually means the player dies which then daisy chains usually the rest of the party to also die.
And then looking at the Raidpool. Hardcore Raiders who are fokused on the endgame, newbies who want to see how it plays, and then people who are just there to get a reward or braging rights... so it ends in a misserable time more often then not if you are not ready to build yourself a static.

I say it again and again I find it a effin shame that the Devs dumb down Job gameplay more and more to work with a game designe many players do not care for.

I struggle even with normal Trials, in that I find the mechanics to be counterintuitive, non-understandable, and overall annoying. I go in blind, die a couple of times to whatever, and am glad when it's over. If there was an option to skip any MSQ trial, I would happily activate it.
I wouldn't raid in this game, even if they automatically gave me the ilvl, materia, foodbuff and whatnot when I enter the instance.

It feels like OP is talking about one thing and others in the thread are talking about another.

If a person wants to enter a Savage raid in PF then they just need to meet the ilvl requirement. Which gets easy when it’s not week 1 and the crafted gear is cheaper, plus they can use weekly tome gear and normal raid gear to save more gil. It’s a worthwhile point to bring up. If you want to do it you can just go ahead and start, which is nice.

But in terms of actual succeeding (or believing that they can), or being interested in the raiding experience in the first place? That’s something else entirely. Like how anyone who is able-bodied can pick up a pencil and start drawing but not everyone is going to commit to it as a hobby or a serious pursuit.

Or maybe FFXIV raiding just isnt attractive... I used to play WoW and went to FFXIV in the big exodus, social in FFXIV is amazing, so is housing and glamming, but the raiding is an absolute bore, no worth it rewards, no gear progression that actually really matters

Mao has similar feelings as whats Fufuka and Gwenkatsu has. Boss fights, ALL boss fights (in trials, dungeons and raids), have been gettings faster and faster ever since ShB. EW was very hard on Mao. DT was nightmare for Mao. Mao is old and has Parkinson's Disease. Mao can not keep ups with ever increasing speed of boss fights. Is why Mao nopes out of boss fights and thens decided to nopes out of game. Game has changed too much for Mao to even be able to play. Mao sad....

Mao adds addendum: Mao findings dungeons, delves and raids in WoW to be very doable and much funs. Mao happys agains!
