    Just one "Grey Dye" for all shades of white-black.
    They'll never deprecate dyes because you can buy them with real money, but they also won't bolster the infrastructure to give us more inventory slots because that would take money away from doomed incubation projects.

    You can't save any dye selections on glams unless you have the dye available, it's annoying playing with all the dye options and then having to close out, go buy dye, and then come back and reapply the dye.

    No, we shouldn't have dye storage. They should get rid of the concept of dyes as individual items. I'd even accept generic dyes for all of the categories. All greyscale dye, all red, blue, yellow, purple, brown, orange, green. Even an all specialty dye.

    I'd love for materia to get a similar treatment, since I'm tired of dungeons throwing endless amounts of materia from an ever-growing list at me when only 2 are ever needed outside of ARR relic farming nonsense or niche minimum ilevel runs. We don't need 12 variations of every materia at this point, it just bloats out the inventory.

    The entire system is so inefficient and backwards. Crafting often has the same problem, where mats are just thrown at players. There's probably over 10,000 mats devoted just to crafting. And if I'm wrong, it's likely still well over 1000.

    Inventory bloat shouldn't be tackled via adding more forms of alternate storage. Fix the initial problem and it goes away. Like how WoW's transmog system would fix the armor inventory bloat by completely redesigning how the items are stored and unlocked into an actually sane system. GW2 uses a one-and-done dye unlock system, see the dye once, never need it again.

    Storage doesn't fix the core problem, it just sidesteps it.

    You're identifying the problems but giving absolutely terrible ideas as a solution.

    There's already a whole economy around dyes (some are cash shop items too!) so I don't think crashing the dye economy by removing them from the game entirely would be a smart idea. Having genericized dyes would also similarly devalue them.

    Materia I agree there's only like 3 that are useful per role, but why not, idunno, fix materia then? Make other stats more enticing/interesting in some way?

    There's a lot of things that probably shouldn't be eating inventory space... Dyes, Materia, Currency items like Extreme totems and Raid tokens... Maybe they could also give a separate inventory for crafting materials as well.

    What do you mean it's terrible? These are functioning solutions in other games. GW2 uses one and done unlocks. WoW uses transmog where if you ever possess the item as character/account bound, it's permanently unlocked. Who cares about the dye economy? It just props up other aspects of the economy. Compressing dyes solves the immediate problem of dyes bloating out the inventory.

    Likewise, fixing materia is useless when I'm still getting grade 7 and 8 materia and those will never be useful outside of very specific contexts involving synced/min ilevel runs. In the problem of inventory bloat, the only reasonable solution is reducing inventory spam, because otherwise we run into situations of the systems perpetually bloating out. And while I mispoke, I meant 2 valuable grades of materia per stat, and even then that's just a pentamelding system, which isn't that good by itself.

    If the devs refuse to fix the core problem of their inventory system being awful, the least they could do is reduce the number of items bloating the inventory.
