You can do a good chunk of the A-Ranks comfortably with scrip gear. Including those from A3. Doesn't require you to be fully decked out at all.

How are you defining "casual" such that critical missions can't be part of casual play? Part of the reason I wonder is because while I am not even remotely a 'casual' player of FFXIV as a whole, I am 100% a casual crafter, having only leveled mine enough so that I didn't have to bother friends to make chocobo clothes for me anymore. Otherwise I don't touch crafters with a ten-fulm barge pole. If I ever even consider making a crafter tool through Cosmic Exploration I am going to be abusing Red Alerts like crazy. On the other hand, I have friends who are casual players of FFXIV and they aren't even bothering with the tools, just doing mech ops and Red Alerts so they can buy clothes.
I'm literally using jewelry I happened to have pentamelded well over a year ago for gathering and it's working fine to get gold on many of the A quests; I haven't bothered doing anything of the sort with my left-side gear, it's just current. Dunno how it is on crafters though.

This is literally scrip gear, and an offshoot random macro on the triple experimental recipe that awards 30 IV data logs base. How are you defining "casual" such that critical missions can't be part of casual play?

People are just jumping the gun for the most part, and then some people that haven't necessarily done it are just latching onto that. It's on the very accessible side. Players are just far too used to coming home from work on a patch day, and all the macros and resources being readily published for copying in-game, and because they aren't as widely published, people are just blowing it a bit out of proportion, tbh.

so you're making assertions about content you aren't even doing why exactly are you commenting here if you aren't even doing the content and making assumptions like i said Red alerts are maybe 3 a day if you are lucky. you can't "abuse" red alerts. How are you defining "casual" such that critical missions can't be part of casual play? I am doing the content. I have a maxed out fishing pole and am currently working on the mining pick. So, how do you define "casual"?
Furthermore, even if people can't figure out what they're supposed to do, there are literally dozen other doing the same thing in the instance. Like, ask around? The instances I've been in are generally friendly enough people regularly answer questions.
All these 'macros not working!!!' honestly brings up the question: do you (general you) even know why XYZ macro works or are you just copying homeworks?

The worst part is if people asked questions, like "How are you progressing your relic? What missions are you doing", and literally many people would jump in and help, many may even be inclined to give macros to help with it, or a resource that they are using. I would literally do the same on this forum in this thread, but some people are more concerned with thinking the content is wrong, too hardcore, too try hard, or whatever.. Than what they are with actually asking questionsFurthermore, even if people can't figure out what they're supposed to do, there are literally dozen other doing the same thing in the instance. To be honest, a lot of this issue is just compounded by guides more often taking the path of least resistance rather than trying to convey how the actions interact with each other, which in many respects I understand, but it is a major contributor to these all these issues happening with Cosmic... People for the past several years have googled "Levelling guide", and in most instances all you get is macros. I get that the onus is on the player to ask why or figure out the actions, but guides compound this issue massively.
