It's terrible, but I don't see a solution while we're shackled to GCD combat that needs to roll as fast as it does, outside of making jumps single weave and hit way harder.

Sky High/Sky Shatter is great because it's its own thing and PvP itself has more combat flexibility.

Current battle system that need to go faster, flashier and shiny new buttons every expansion has run its course.

I was thinking before that GCD-jumps could make this work, but of course then that opens a new can of worms: You're now locked into a GCD-animation-jump.

Which does provide for an interesting idea: What if these GCD-jumps made you invulnerable while the GCD is rolling, meaning you're in the animation. Genuinely leap out of the screen top, like the PvP jump? But then of course, that in turn opens a huge can of worms in regards to PvE, specifically raid fights that require 8 targets to aim stuff at.

But yeah on principle I agree, the GCD-based combat system needs to go. Some jobs can work that way, most ought not to. Much like most jobs in a combat environment such as FFXIV's raids need a strong randomized input, so their combat flow isn't a static sequence.
