How often does this actually happen? Most people learn after one, maybe two wipes. At least enough to survive with a couple vuln stacks. If you keep wiping over and over, it's time to disband. If you wipe, then the party die to the same thing again then it's going to be faster for the tank to just finish the boss themselves instead of risk wiping again and wasting more time, but that rarely happens, and if it's sub 20% then it's faster typically for the tank to solo the boss than resetting and going again as sometimes the boss hits for so little it takes to long to actually reset.
And well just don't die then the tank "hold you hostage". It will boil down to difference of playstyle argument.
I already said more or less infrequently, but playing as long as I have, you see some questionable things, although beginning of the expac I found people struggle to come to terms with the slightly more difficult fight designs.
Why would I disband a dungeon run... I'll just finish it off by myself and collect my tomes on my way out lol
Not so long ago, I had a group with which we wiped 4 times on Alexandria's first boss before I decided to solo it on the 5th attempt. Fortunately tho, it's indeed pretty rare.
Because you are playing an online multiplayer game, the point is to to finish it with people.
The fact someone can clear a task alone when it's supposed to be done with multiple players proves something is wrong with the class.
I mean then maybe said people shouldn't fail basic level mechanics and use eyes? If you are in the last boss already wasted 20+ minutes are you seriously gonna disband, or just just finish the boss and get on with the day instead of queuing up and running the dungeon all over again? I'll finish the dungeon off thank you very much.
I hope every player in XIV experiences having to watch a tank stay alive solo for 20+ minutes in a fight, because I'm positive the general consensus will be "this is dumb."
I mean maybe some people shouldn't have in their kit the tools to, reduce incoming damage, heal themselve and deal enought damage to kill a boss on their own.I mean then maybe said people shouldn't fail basic level mechanics and use eyes? You are basicaly complaining about other player skill level while playing a job that is litteraly being babysit by SQE to the point almost everybody agree it's overpowered.

Yeah whether you are confident in your own skills to stay alive it doesn’t mean a role should be so overpowered it basically feels like it’s being babied by square enix
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
Imagine complaining about other players doing mistakes while playing a role that's mistake immune.
Maybe, learn to read?
I said if on a 20+ minute dungeon and the party is constantly wiping to the last boss. I'm not constantly killing myself to cater to someone(s) not putting in the effort to improve. I'm going to finish the last boss and get my tomes.
Imagine complaining about toolkits that is balanced around high end content, not the lowest denominator of content, recent job change reasons reflect this is the position the devs hold when it comes to job balance.
I can assure you the self healing in Savage and ultimate on content far less impactful than in dungeons
