    I like the writing, it's way better than the crap most games have where characters just say terrible one liners and act like idiots -.-;

    This game different cities have different accents and common phrases, characters don't just purely say things to advance the plot they have their own personalities, and the lexical choices aren't *that* hard to comprehend.

    The writing is beautiful D:

    I enjoy the dizzying array of accents and inflections myself. The hint of flavor that each NPC brings and how you can instantly tell which area of the world he hails from.

    What I don't enjoy is 4 paragraphs to say 1 coherent thing. They just need to trim it down, while keeping the personality.

    I have to slightly agree wih the OP and admit that I have some minor issues with it as well. Mind you I love their writing skills but I really wish they did tone it down just a bit. Not to the point of making short simple sentences. I honestly have problems following an entire dialogue because of it and I feel that I'm missing important key elements of the storyline. Something I never had issues with in ffxi. Perhaps this will be fixed later on as well, when npc's get voices during cutscenes and make it somewhat easier.

    Then again, this could also be blamed due to the storyline being spread a bit everywhere. (Not counting all of the latest GC cutscenes and most dalamud related ones.)

    NPCs tend to be long winded quite often, I agree

    I have to agree. The writing is stilted yet wooded at the same time. No charm whatsoever.

    As someone who has played both the Japanese and English versions of the game, I have to say that the English translation is amazing. Really.

    I do agree though, that they could tone down the vocab just a tad on some parts, but honestly it in some ways the translation is even better written than the original Japanese version.

    Fortuitous for we are bestowed with a myriad of wonderous options in this magnanimous world. Perchance the enlightened citizens of Eorzea shall be graced with literary concepts becomming to their most esteemed stature. Mayhap, those befuddled by the complexities of such literary yarns can find a quantum of solace in other avenues of pleasure. (Or a dictionary).

    Let's not dumb it down in a world of Fox ^.^b

    I agree it needs to be toned down a little. I never feel like I actually take any information out of what I read in game. I have to go over it a few times just to get any sense out of it. characters just spout massive text walls of nonsense. Nobody is asking for it to be dumbed down completely, it doesn't need to be changed much just make it a little clearer to get the main point in a conversation.

    The character names are ridiculous to. Square obviously doesn't feel this way but I think it is difficult to feel any sense of attachment to a character with a name I can not even read or pronounce. It makes them forgettable. It makes it difficult to talk about that character to anyone you just send up saying that guy. This being a FF game and all I see that as quite a big problem, perhaps its also down to no character in this game really having much of a personality yet but better names would certainly help them stick in my mind.

    Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn is a stupid name.
