If the writer is from older generation than I can understand. Seeing a lot of story writer, anime producer that live through WWII and they all have a strong feeling about sending kids to die in the war for the older generation etc. They have a strong sense of “teen/children are the one creating the future, not their old man (30+).

Although, I believe Natsuko Ishikawa is extremely unlikely from those era. Yet, she might have been taught by those generation. Unfortunately, we (typical Asian) have this kind of education/ teach how being taught. I was a high school teacher back in my country and I am afraid there are lots of push back from change from both students and older/senior teaching staffs.
