Btw they've clearly noticed these issues. They know about them.https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...ace-2-Eyebrows
This has been an issue since Dawntrail benchmark. How has this not been remotely adressed? I do not understand.

I feel like CS3 would be better off rescinding the character updates from 7.0 and beyond and starting all over again paying more attention to the details this time. Because at this point, they are trying to polish a turd and characters are looking further off than ever.
You're preaching to the choir, the whole PS3 limitations spiel should've died with that system. With Dawntrail I had a little bit of optimism that they would put more into this game and I liked the initial graphics update, even if it's unfinished. While what you're asking is completely reasonable, you are asking this of a development team that had to duplicate a midlander male face as an option just to bake a stubble onto it. Want to shave? That'll be 7€. The foundation upon which the game is built is so unfathomably bad that they believe they cannot (I'm more inclined to believe they simply don't want to) add any more customization options to existing faces. Highlander men have been begging for eyebrows on their hands and knees for a decade. Fashionistas have been requesting RGB-based color pickers for hair, eyes and skin for almost as long as the game's been running. The excuse has always been the same: "processing limits", as though games far older than FFXIV 1.0 didn't have those.
As if this game isn't among Square-Enix's top selling, highest grossing titles. They behave like an indie studio that's too small to make these changes, while swimming in money. In many ways, CBU3 reminds me of Game Freak.
These "fixes" are not geared toward actually fixing characters. Otherwise, we would have seen far, far bigger changes in the time Dawntrail's been out. They're geared towards making you think they care so you stay subbed for at least the entire Dawntrail patch cycle.
Do I sound angry? Yes, but that's because I love this game to bits. I know they can do better because the talent isn't gone. I just don't know why they're taking so long to correct their mistakes - mistakes that go beyond the scope of this thread.
But I'm used to being disappointed by CBU3, half the gear that's hastily modeled for Roes is a testament to this, but they're also barely played so I almost find that understandable. But now I'm unhappy about something so trivial that any other studio would've fixed this in way less than a day, a texture already made and put in a menu. Knowing how they operate it probably will never get addressed but I had to ask anyway since I dislike this change.

Sorry to hear that. Throwing my hat in the dissatisfied ring here. I play Midlander female and I feel like the expressions were changed too much, and not for the better.Might post images later but the only noticeable change I saw for my guy was an emote change. Narrower eyes for the Annoyed Emote he uses on all his portraits. The eyes themselves don't seem to have changed, nor anything else for that matter.
Completely disheartened... I so hoped they'd care and actually give us some noticeable changes but that was just hopium I guess. UnU
You'd expect a girl who runs like she's late for school with a piece of toast in her mouth to have cutesy facial expressions... and before the graphical "update", she did. Now, it's hard to describe and I really have no screenshots to show it, but it's like all the subtlety is gone. The expressions aren't cute anymore , they range from resting bitch face, to mild amusement, to (in the worst cases) looking like a sociopath trying to emulate an emotion they don't understand. It's very disheartening that my cute Middie doesnt' have cute expressions anymore.

i am 100% with you on this. scrap the graphic "update" and save the code for ff17 or whatever ends up being the next mmo. give us back our characters.I feel like CS3 would be better off rescinding the character updates from 7.0 and beyond and starting all over again paying more attention to the details this time. Because at this point, they are trying to polish a turd and characters are looking further off than ever.
No changes, still the same duck mouth. But I didn't expect anything else.

The irony is that Yoshida talked about Lalafell faces for like, 10 minutes at that one FanFest. I mean he REALLLLLLLYYYYYY went on and on about them. And Lalas are some of the most dissatisfied of us all. It's like the more attention they pay to something, the worse it actually gets.I feel like CS3 would be better off rescinding the character updates from 7.0 and beyond and starting all over again paying more attention to the details this time. Because at this point, they are trying to polish a turd and characters are looking further off than ever.

That really hurts to hear. I was considering bringing one of my OC's to the game (before DT and the "upgrade" dropped) as a Midlander but now? My apologies to your poor girl...
My Au Ra Raen female face 2 character has similar emote issues to your Midlander female. All of her emotes are off to the point of her looking deranged in some of them with some being near Hildebrand levels of face morphing and in some her scales still squish when her face moves.
My Duskwight fella they fixed his annoyed emote, but broke the others. His sad emote looks like he really needs to find a bathroom, his smile he squints so much his eyes are slits. Like how did they add MORE bones to the face to improve things and somehow make it all look 10x worse? I am utterly baffled by the choices here... @_@
That was supposed to reply with quote to Auro_Seldaris... Getting too annoyed to type right.

I'm happy with my highlander. At least the redesign isn't far off like World of Warcrafts Character update in the past. There is so much of off it, you all would be mad af!
