That's the thing. I could never get past WoW's cartoonish style.

I certainly agree its something I dont really like compared to ff14. Theirs a lot that ff14 does well but even right now I just can't defend or enjoy the current state of the game so I might aswell give other things a try.

I never even saw myself trying wow at one point but now it's to the point where I'm looking into better options to ff14

It is probably best to stay away.

SQEX should consider only allowing subs over six months to join the forums, so that new player churn can prop up the sub-count as the bittervets bleed away.

Because it represents the reality of the players who have been playing more than 3 weeks. You are free to do with this information however you like, but if you consider it poison instead of thinking for yourself and potentially not engaging - what are you doing in the internet overall?

Yes, you're right, I should probably just avoid the internet altogether. There's just garbage almost everywhere anyway.

I mean it’s a bit unfair for you to judge the state of the forums of a 13 year old game when you’ve played for 3 weeks. Everyone who didn’t immediately bounce in 10 minutes is in the honeymoon phase 3 weeks into a new MMO

Like you aren’t wrong for wanting a positive experience when you start but you also have to understand that not everyone is on the same honeymoon phase and there are legit criticisms the veteran playerbase have

If you want to find more discussion about the game or lore, go for the R forum.
They might have worse complaints/criticisms threat but they also have way healthier and more discussion about plot, game play and lore

Enjoy the game, there is so much to discover here. 6 xpacs, 22 jobs, a metric ton of story, countless side activities. My advice is to take your time and have fun - it's not WoW, where you spend 5 hours to get to max level, and then weeks and weeks getting denied in the Mythic+ queue (slight exageration here

A well maintained blacklist can also help a lot. I just blacklisted 5 posters so far, and poof - most of the negative threads are now halfway empty. It almost looks like it's the same handful of people posting complaint after complaint, like they have nothing better to do with their lives.
Not going to lie, the game has a lot of issues right now - but posting the same "BM lost a CD, now the world is doomed. DOOMED" stuff 27 times a day is really not going to solve anything. At least that's how I see it.

Yoshi is not a wizard. If SE is not willing to spend more ressources and manpower into FFXIV, then he and the dev team are unable to solve the problems of the game, while producing cool interesting new content at the same time. They just can't.

Maybe he makes bad decisions, too. For example thinking that turned based stuff would be outadet. I really had to laugh hard after Baldurs Gate 3 was such a huge success, while the 'action' system of FF16 is so boring and the game itself is not a good 'game' and would have been a better anime/manga/series, because it lacks interesting gameplay. I was very disappointed when I first heard that FF16 will be not turned based again. Both action and turnbased can be very cool. But we had too much FF action style over the last years.

In the end, I think the elephant in the room is SE itself and how it just pulls money out from FF14, but not spend enough ressourses into it back. Yoshi can just try to work with what he gets.
