Viper and Paladin can also kill them pretty quickly.I feel like they tried to do something in Chaotic with the Atmos adds, but they are best killed by any ranged damage. Once again it shows that simply being able to hit an enemy from afar is more important than being able to feely move around while doing so. A magical ranged DPS can kill them just as well -- if not better than a phys ranged.
But yes, the best way to justify a ranged dps in a party is by adding enemies that can't be killed easily by melee classes.

Just add more enemies that continuously deal damage around themselves again, like in plenty other MMORPGs. melee range only AoEs or 360° cleave procs on autoattacks were/are a thing for a reason!
It seem like there is a possibility that the Jog effect from Sprint might not just be exclusive to sanctuaries, just not in battle. So there is a possibility that Peloton as a party buff might become a dead button.

The joke is, it's already been a dead button since its original version ARR/HW (Swiftsong). It brings nothing of value to the game. Use in dungeons or cities it will make you gain a whooping handful of seconds at best, because mathematically it's a garbage gain. People think it's decent only because of the psychological effect.

I've been browsing through the JP dps forum a bit and it kinda surprised me. They're upset, the latest LL didnt mention any infos about the phys ranged role. They would like to see some sort of uniqueness specific to phys ranged jobs, cause the usual arguments about "mobility, utility and no positionals" do not hold up anymore. Other jobs provide buffs, heals and shields and bosses having huge hitboxes are a norm by now.
There's also some talk about Machinist. It's generally excluded from many high end tiers and is considered as an underperforming job. I've been voicing my opinion many times about MCH and nothing really changed, but I still want to address this once more.

I am starting to think that in the devs' minds, the whole role of rphys is barely better than SMN and considered a novice role for people that still need crutches to play at DDR without uptime considerations, and therefore is kinda of a joke role not really worth balancing like melees or BLM/PCT that sees the devs immediately making sure to tell us that they're going to buff them whenever required (see last PLL).
It's funny how in their patch notes and job changes explanations all the second rate jobs (everything that's not a melee, a BLM or a PCT) barely get any mention if at all. They just do not give a crap about those jobs. They're not here to compete, they're jobs on training wheels.
Definitely just paranoid, but 7.2 seems like it could be the patch where phys ranged as a role finally dies from starvation at the hands of the devs.

are we not dead yet ?
joke aside, i'd really like to get a speed boost from peloton (not as fast as SCH one... well it could) would make sens to bring a ranged again just for speed boost x)

Did you know? The mage classes are the next gen phys ranged jobs. They don't need to cast at all, but contribute more DPS, buffs and anything. Who needs a fucking MCH or DNC if you could bring full dps trucks?
What the fuck, SE.

Rphys are jobs on training wheels to the devs that don't deserve any actual value, nothing more.
