right like you'd expect an old-school game like FFXI to be anal about classes looking the part, and yet somehow that's the MMO that just lets people dress up however they like... it's mind-boggling
I've said it before and I'll say it again—class fantasy goes out the window when you have Limsa catgirls in bikinis wielding greatswords bigger than they are and there's a kappa mascot healing the party with its ungodly feet out.
Unlock job restrictions, CBU3. It's way past time. (Gender restrictions too, while we're at it. Old gear I can understand, but stop making gear with two gendered options unless you're going to give us a toggle for which one to wear.)
Yeah, honestly unlocking job restrictions is probably the best easy thing they can do for the game right now. It would be very well received based on what I've gathered from the playerbase, and a good way to add much needed good publicity to the game. It doesn't really make sense to continue locking job restrictions, so unlocking job glamour is something that would benefit the glamour system tremendously.
Will never happen and CBu3 will say it makes classes too hard to identify while ignoring all the (Level 1) gear that has platearmor and usable by all classes or the abyssos stuff that is heavily armored.
No, Yoshi-P has already said in interviews that it's not too hard on the technical side to unlock it, and that his own staff members brought it up before. The reason people bring up the "black mage in armour is silly" point is because that was his most recent stance on the matter after it was questioned as well.Willing to bet its a technical thing (As everything seems to be one).
It's pretty ridiculous wanting to protect role image when you have all the casual glamours, animal costumes and such usable by all jobs which remove any identity at all.
If they really wanted to go down some sort of filtering they could easily have done
Tank, Physical, Magic, DoH/DoL
Tank
Melee + Phys
Healer + Caster
DoH + DoL
And, while it could be a step, I disagree and would rather they unlock it for everyone. Some of the Crafting gear would be great in combat classes, for example. I'd rather it require you to have a job leveled up enough to wear the gear in order to unlock it (so needing a Crafter level 80 to wear that on combat, and so on).
According to a recent Famitsu interview with Yoshi-P:
"There's a lot they can't say about 7.3 yet, but he believes it will be full of surprises. "
How about they remove glamour restrictions ?... Now that would be a nice surprise.
A Scholar in White Mage AF gear...
The excuses become less and less convincing.

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.
Or this set which is perfect for a Red Mage... but it's Aiming.

Gods, gotta keep being a thorn in their side about wanting role restrictions on glamor for another patch cycle...
