Dawntrail character graphics update - opinions, requests and discussion megathread

In case we really just don't understand each other - you wanted to hear from others what they're unhappy about, only to then tell them that their opinion is fine, but they're not right (I'm paraphrasing again). I mentioned that this very approach leads to nothing because it's not real discourse - you felt personally addressed, I tried to make it clear to you how the nature of your comment prevents discourse (as it repeatedly appears in this thread) - and at the same time, I tried to return to the original topic.

And at this point, I'm supposed to explain to you how to better handle such a situation? Just imagine someone goes dress shopping with their girlfriend, as you yourself used as an example earlier - and then consider what they shouldn't say to her if they don't want to sleep on the couch - and how they might have handled the misfortune better.

Or just imagine someone who finds the new lighting horrible - but still takes into account that others seem to like it in order to think about how to improve the situation for everyone.

But that really was my last post on this.

I mentally skip a lot of posts because it's just people asserting that their positive evaluation is objectively correct and everyone else is objectively wrong and should stop talking about it.

I didn't ask to hear what people are unhappy about. I said I like the new eyes, someone else said the eyes looking good are dependent on what area you're in so I asked what area they're talking about so I can check it out for myself. They never replied, then someone entirely different replied with a screenshot of their character.

And again, you're mischaracterizing my posts by claiming I'm telling them they're not right when I went out of my way to say exactly the opposite. It seems you just have fundamental misunderstanding of written text, or you're just trolling.

I still don't like how my au ra ended up looking after patch 7.0 and other character model fixes they made after patch 7.0 when my au ra face looks lot rounder then before patch 7.0 which makes my cahracter face look fat and i simply hate the new scale textures when it simply dosen't fit with model it self at all.

The scales themselves are a big topic - the texture, the in some parts drastically changed shape.
What baffled me most was the noticeably lighter color of the fem Raen scales and horns. To this day, I can't say whether I like the lighter color better or worse, but I wondered the purpose.

Perhaps many people asked for this change - which would be a good reason if it had been addressed openly, I guess.

Xaela (female) was changed too, it's not as noticeable as Raen but it stood out to me on 7.0's launch day. It went from a navy blue to a dark purple.

Oh, thats a bigger change than I noticed o.o my Xaela has a really dark skin tone - so the scales in contrast seemed very blue-ish from the beginning. That it got that vibrant is more noticable on your characters lighter skin and maybe I would say it's a bigger change than the Raen one, because of more color is mostly a bigger of a deal than less color in case of matching with hair and clothing.

Edit: I took a closer look, to compare the before and after. It's a bit weird with the Xaela color change. At the first glance I thought, the new one got more colorfull - then I got the feeling, it's the shine on top of it and the old one is in reality more vibrant. Now I'm not shure at all which one stands out more. I think the new one could be fine without (or lesser) shine on it?

This picture doesn't instill confidence that any kind of character appearance correction is planned.

The same face, the same mouth. Also, no mention of the graphical update or a free Fantasia has been made.

Not surprised, still disappointed. No mention about graphic update at all, although they said post-patches would address these.

And ffs, free our Highlanders from these eyebrowlessness curse! If NPC (and concept art) can let them have eyebrows, I see no reason to not let the actual players to have them too?

So I noticed the other day, a small difference with my own character, just because I went looking. I don't know if I mind it enough to use a fantasia given I didn't notice for the best part of a year.

Someone sent me screenshots of our characters before the graphics update and I have to say that I really, really miss my character. Elezen male were not as hard hit as some others, but the small details being not the same make the face look so different. I haven't been able to watch cutscenes and think "yes, that looks like my character", instead it still feels like a new person six months later.

Yeah I think the mouth changes are the biggest culprit for complaint with turning characters into wholly different people.

I still hope they give the original mouth shape back as an additional option. It's not okay to change the most characteristic feature of a face.
