Oh, well I do think it matters actually. You can get away without it, sure, but you are potentially causing your party to wipe. I've seen this many times in leveling dungeons, where the healer's output is so poor they can't handle the healing, or the tank can't handle the enemies even with mit because they hit hard. When I was leveling Sage this expansion, I threw everything at the tank and barely kept them alive and their gear did have some leveling gear, so using tomestone gear wouldn't have been a good look for that tank.

I even remember a time in Heavensward where everyone tried to get carried in The Vault with tomestone gear and ultimately the party fought over why they were wiping, playing the blame game over lack of DPS and HP.

You can get through it with tomestone gear but you're holding your party back a lot or getting carried. Duty Support is able to do this though. The healers will actually carry the player hard.

I am currently taking a break and roaming around Guild Wars 2. If you compare them, FFXIVs overworld is beautiful, but dead. Small and nothing to do. The idea of FATEs is great. But after ARR Devs prioritized other content. Now people port in and out for a hunt and thats it

Big empty areas with nothing in them is the crux of the argument.

    - They need settlements and camps.
-OPEN ALL BUILDINGS and make them alive and LIVED.
-Have activities aside from Fates and Hunts
    - Make mobs farmable for some rare materials, have rare mobs that can appear in a COMPLETELY random location, so bots cant camp it or have everyone be able to tag the same mobs with personal drop chances
    - Chocobo treasure hunts
    - Minigames
    - Rare world bosses like fates, but ones that drop rare glam materials, mounts, furniture materials. Personal tag so you cant troll or camp.
    - Somekind of open world activity that you can do for 10 minutes or keep grinding for profit / fun random drops. You know, like an MMO usually does.

Until then, the open ghost town'esque maps are just pretty to look at while you msq and grind fates.

Also edit: (cant edit on phone)

Please let us disable fate visibility on map and the awful sound that interrupts the flow of you exploring the map.

I skimmed through it and I like the ideas mentioned. FATEs could be a lot better, and I think these ideas are a step in the right direction. It'd definitely be nice if more chains existed, but I think adding branching paths whether one fails or succeeds could be fun

Because I recall seeing people talk about content that we used to have where we could help fortify and defend locations in the game
So it'd be cool to bring something like that back and have it make changes to the environment. Like having certain mobs 'take over' a place they conquered

More world bosses would also be huge, but I think that's what they see the big hunt marks as and they tend to die quickly due to being steamrolled by a lot of people
If they instead made it a fate so people would sync down to then it'd probably last a little longer than they do now

I also personally dislike the fates where you can't see the icon on the map
Typically people will call it out or you'll see it in PF, but they seem to happen infrequently and you're unlikely to know unless you happen to be in the zone or just happen to spot the parties for it in PF

I have very fond memories of farming Odin as a sprout and watching entire parties wipe
So it'd be nice if it happened somewhat more frequently, and having a tighter ilvl sync too so those bosses can really earn their title as world bosses

I'm guessing flying makes them think every corner of the map should be traversable, but it really doesn't matter if there's nothing there. I think the maps have gotten bigger too, but it only really means things are spaced out further. Every new map I'm finding myself just running straight to each aether current or MSQ point without really caring as much for the actual landscape. It worked in HW partly because it was different from ARR, but it hasn't changed since and the formula's gone stale.

They've updated those fates to show up on the map now.

That only applies to the ones with a single spawn point. Many older ones have multiple spawn points: Steel Reign, Prey Online, A Horse Outside and Foxy Lady.

oh oof, so you still have to camp out for Foxy Lady for the tell and stuff. At least it's easy to tell when Steel Reign's spawned.

Yeah that so much. Back when Eureka launched and we basically 24/7'd it, we could not help new fc members unless it was before we started or after we left. if it was an open zone where we could use duty finder etc, things wouldve been different...

One of the first impressions I had going into Dawntrail is how large and empty Tuliyollal feels.
