To log ON TO THE GAME, you have to open the LAUNCHER, that shows you all of the new FFXIV merchandise and the items from the cash shop, in what world do you not see that it's basically the same as if it was in the game, if there was no launcher, fine, but you HAVE to go through the launcher, you are FORCED to see the ads on the launcher if you want to play the game.

I play a B2P game with an optional sub that has pop-ups every time I log in advertising their latest $50 RL store options. It's obnoxious and I have to click out of them.

I appreciate not having to deal with this in XIV. Most people can quickly ignore an ad on the login screen - it's a screen we are already on and most of us just quickly enter our passwords and click into game without reading any of it.

I'm not sure if you just expected an echo chamber of people agreeing with you that the game should be free, but many of us have a lot of experiences with MMOs for up to 25+ years now and have seen it all, and a lot out there is far worse than this.

I just said in the previous page I dont want the game to be free, the community which is already bad as it is would get even worse with free to play users. But people's justifications for the pay to play model are just wrong.

What do you want exactly? B2P? I found there is little difference in the behavior of B2P games and outright FtP these days.
