Jealousy, rivalry, who the hell knows.

    ofcourse, its all just speculation.
Umm, you do know alot of the server problems, lag, congestion, and core issues that still exist and the general LACK OF THE MOST BASIC UI FEATURES in the game are due to the way Tanaka developed the game. For the most part, most of Tanaka's realistic and attractive visions of the game are still intact, and part of the stuff that was taken out of the game like Battle Regimens are either being redeveloped or reprogrammed to work more efficiently and/or to be more practical (Combos). Other stuff like the fatigue system was way to restricting, and getting experience based on actions, damage done/healed put certain classes at huge disadvantages to really warrant their existence in this particular game.

But you know what? Despite the years of FFXI development experience and all that time and effort Tanaka put in the game, it was still severely underdeveloped, buggy, and just barely playable, if that.

Yoshi in the course of one year is taking Tanaka's 4+ years of work and rebuilding it into a practical WORKING and fully functioning game while still developing content based on the current engine and server structure. So some things like instances might be rampant in the game for now, but that doesn't mean it couldn't change in the future, it may just mean the current server limitations are holding back the true overworld content.

the Crystal Tools set is to blame for a vast majority your server and game play woe's. the other small fraction are old servers. i would assume there a good 4 years old if not older for all we know they could be the old XI servers. i don't really care about that.

Tanaka's not in charge, he was never given the chance to make things right either. my problem lies with Yoshi, not as a developer as I'm sure he is very good at what he does...its his ability to lead and make difficult decisions that I'm more concerned with...he's to "charismatic" that alone doesn't give me the take charge and do it they way it was intended vibe.

im sure Yoshi's a great guy, fun to hang with no doubt....but that's not what we needed. we needed a balls on, rim riding hard ass that can get stuff done without fear of being on the next community hit list. Yoshi doesn't strike me as that person...hell for all i know maybe he is, maybe he walks around the office in his overlord suit lashing his underlings who displease him or are late and giving free peperoni pizza to those that work till there fingers bleed or have a heart failure for working 78 hours straight....but i doubt it

I don't really understand this, I think Yoshi has made a ton of difficult decisions and changes; in fact, he has in many ways completely overhauled the FFXIV that existed at launch.

And too charismatic? You don't like that? I think that is my favorite thing about Yoshi, his openness and involvement with the community. It's unheard of really for someone in his position, and it is unbelievably refreshing imho.

NOW, I do agree in that I can't help but be concerned with the way that the game is developing in certain ways. Like the overuse of instances and anima. Or the content finder, which I do want but am concerned with how it will end up being implemented. In this respect, I think Tanaka's product would have been very different and potentially more enjoyable from my own personal viewpoint.

However I still hold faith in Yoshi's leadership, and I am very happy to have him here over Tanaka (sorry Tanaka buddy, FFXI rocked so at least you're back to that). After all, I am enjoying this MMO more than I have any other in years, and believe me I've played a crap ton of them. I think that says something.
