ofcourse, its all just speculation.
Umm, you do know alot of the server problems, lag, congestion, and core issues that still exist and the general LACK OF THE MOST BASIC UI FEATURES in the game are due to the way Tanaka developed the game. For the most part, most of Tanaka's realistic and attractive visions of the game are still intact, and part of the stuff that was taken out of the game like Battle Regimens are either being redeveloped or reprogrammed to work more efficiently and/or to be more practical (Combos). Other stuff like the fatigue system was way to restricting, and getting experience based on actions, damage done/healed put certain classes at huge disadvantages to really warrant their existence in this particular game.

But you know what? Despite the years of FFXI development experience and all that time and effort Tanaka put in the game, it was still severely underdeveloped, buggy, and just barely playable, if that.

Yoshi in the course of one year is taking Tanaka's 4+ years of work and rebuilding it into a practical WORKING and fully functioning game while still developing content based on the current engine and server structure. So some things like instances might be rampant in the game for now, but that doesn't mean it couldn't change in the future, it may just mean the current server limitations are holding back the true overworld content.
