I suppose I could say the same thing however I'm more open to there being holiday events as long as they are small scale. Using the same bells method used up til now sortof made that apparent. Also we never had a Halloween event last year so that should have caused time to fix the game get reduced from months to weeks. Right? It didn't? Oh well...
People who do like to use the events to interact and celebrate with their online friends have every right to do so however. You can't dictate to everyone if they should have that oppertunity or not based on solely what you think.
Oh and about Rift. I've been playing WoW since the FF servers were shutdown and one thing I noticed was alot of guild members returning from Rift who hated it. A WoW clone is never going to have long lasting appeal. No matter how well it launched.
And if this were anything but a Final Fantasy it would have been DoA. I have every right to jerk this ship back to its true purpose and away from the clutches of a decadent and complacent population who doesn't realize that this is *still* not working. At all. It is *still* sinking.I suppose I could say the same thing however I'm more open to there being holiday events as long as they are small scale. And you're excited to see we're still holding egg hunts on the Titanic deck. Wonderful. Doesn't even cross your mind that they *stopped* talking about what a company is. Do they even know? You don't care. Egg hunt WOO!

I can agree on some level with the OP in her assessment of holiday quests, and I also understand the "tough love" she's offering to the company and the player base by proxy. This game has gotten off on the wrong foot...well...both feet, heck the game fell out of the bed and hit its head on every piece of furnature on its way down. This of course was in full view of the public which was eagerly awaiting it's presentation... A game's image is extremely important, and do I think that SE will stop making holiday quests, no. It DOES however, make say, Joe Non-player look at the game and say, so what's new has been done? Well, we have this neat Eas...err..Egg Hunt. Cool, says Joe Non-player, can I use these eggs as some sort of magical font to call some sort of mystical Bunny NM with glowing fangs and eyes the shape of Dice? Well..no...you..umm...just...collect the eggs... Oh..well, guess I'll keep playing WoW sayeth, Joe Non-player.
People have problems with SE's timeline, simple, the fact that they should or shouldn't have problems with such things is beyond the scope of discussion.
What I DO NOT agree with is people putting underhanded comments in their signatures about other members of this forum. (MagicofGaia I am looking at you)
I mean seriously, people shouldn't declare themselves the official "Troll Police" as if they have some sort of higher thought process or drink some special kool-aid that makes them King of Zah Forumz.

I'd suggest to take this dead argument into a bag and then go to a cabaret. So they didn't have chocobos, airships, quests, more than 4 animations per job, spells that aren't tech demo quality, a funcional market system, and NMs...but they had these holiday events just ready to go?
I don't give a damn what they had planned at release. Clearly that plan failed.
As holiday events make up the *majority* of our new content, I'm left to assume that they in fact do take up most of the time and effort.
7 months in guys, with next to no new content that matters. Time to stop piddling around with holiday items, gear, and animations.

Peregrine, we know that the game has lived for 7 months. We know that it has been developed bad. WE F*CKING KNOW IT. There's no reason beating a dead argument (as they say: "Beating a dead horse"), as EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS.
Events are not a time sink in game developing, as it takes one planning session, one or two meetings, little analysis and then programming. It's not that at Square Enix there are only 5 or 6 employees that can't work for two things together. I mean, they are working on multiple things right now!
Come on, the "They should stop with events and concentrate about the game" doesn't work, as they are working on the game while doing events.
The thing is the reaction of Joe Non-player would be the same without the holiday events. Let's see what's new...nothing?! Those events aren't there to bring new players or anything, just to give us something to do(even if it's for a short time) while waiting for the promise updates.
This is heavily assuming that the Easter Egg Event is the 'bulk' of the next patch. Somehow, I severely doubt that 70% of the patch is JUST a seasonal event. It was a side note among many. And of course SE's *new* schedule was and will be heavily effected by the earthquake and to demand that they be just as productive during such a crisis is unreasonable, selfish, and, frankly, insulting.I can agree on some level with the OP in her assessment of holiday quests, and I also understand the "tough love" she's offering to the company and the player base by proxy. Right, it's the image above all else. You all look stupid, and they look stupid, trading eggs on the deck of a sinking ship. If you want to hide the children from the reality that they may not survive this, by all means give them an easter egg hunt so they don't have to spend their last remaining time in the world with nothing to hope for. But don't sit there and brag that that's what you're doing to the world who knows you're in trouble.
Coast guard: Uh...you all are taking on water we can tell by...well you're listing to the side, on fire, and the lower deck windows are now under water.
XIV: No no we are having lovely egg hunts to celebrate the coming of spring come join us!
Coast guard: We'll uh...just send the rifts to pick up the survivors. I mean rafts. Rafts.
