Sadly, it seems that many forumites take issue with the idea that anyone might have actually enjoyed Dawntrail.
Next time you order food, order from a 2.5 rated restaurant instead of a 4.5 or 5 stars one, and come back to tell us how great it is. Some people enjoy mediocrity or tolerate bad food, that doesnt mean the food in itself is good, just that some people tolerated it for different reasons, maybe it was late and it was the only thing open, or any other reason.
At this point I’d rather blindly trust Asmongold’s hot takes than some dinosaur gaming magazines or established websites.
The entire conversation prior to my first message here was taking about Steam reviews for AGES. I point out steam reviews are mostly positive, and you pretend like nobody was talking about Steam reviews? Dawntrail haters are so disingenuous.
They're coping hard![]()
it really hurts their world view to see that most people enjoyed Dawntrail. Trying to pretend an aggregate of a binary thumbs up/down system is the same as a single reviewers' opinion, comparing videogames to school exams and restaurants... yeah and if my grandmother had wheels she would have been a bicycle

Its not that people take issue with people actually having enjoyed Dawntrail, I think. Most people I read (exceptions always exist, people are people) take issue with their criticism of Dawntrail being attributed to "being a hater", and their valid criticisms being swatted off with a reasoning similar to "i enjoyed it so it must have been a you problem" or "enough people liked it", arguments that insist upon themselves.
Its absolutely okay to have enjoyed Dawntrail, but having enjoyed something does not mean that criticisms of said thing are automatically invalid. People criticizing the product still care, after all. And looking at the reception of the expansion, Dawntrail is definitely not ubiquitously loved.

I get what you're saying - but you've proven my point in a sense. "Tolerated" - but you completely discount the idea that some may have actually enjoyed it.Next time you order food, order from a 2.5 rated restaurant instead of a 4.5 or 5 stars one, and come back to tell us how great it is. And to be clear, I have mixed feelings about it. I actually enjoyed it for the most part, but certainly took issue with a fair few elements of the story.
Agreed - but by the same token, can you direct me to any thread that discusses DT in a positive light that wasn't quickly overrun by negative responses? I would assume not, since DT was poorly received and there are very few threads of that nature to read. But for the few there are....Its not that people take issue with people actually having enjoyed Dawntrail, I think. There are people who would rate a cockroach infested restaurant serving burnt steak with spoiled ketchup a 5 out of 5 because they are worried a 1 star would hurt the restaurant owner's feelings. A 2.5 is actually abysmal in the modern rating culture where everyone pretty much gets a 5 for free or 4 if there's a catastrophe.Next time you order food, order from a 2.5 rated restaurant instead of a 4.5 or 5 stars one, and come back to tell us how great it is. Quite frankly, no, I am unable to direct you to any such thread, knowing there is none. And I am fairly certain that even if one were to create a constructive thread with a title like like "let us discuss the things that we enjoyed about DT's story", that would still attract people writing something along the lines of "the credit roll olololol", or talking down about things some people see as positive.Agreed - but by the same token, can you direct me to any thread that discusses DT in a positive light that wasn't quickly overrun by negative responses? That also is kinda the nature of a forum - you put your opinions on a table for all to see, and said opinion will be challenged by others. These things can just go in either way, just look at the Healer strike thread with its huge, lengthy discussions not just about healer design, but also about how efficient such a strike can even be.

Dude after three expansions of people pointing out legitimate issues with the game being shut down Twitter ratio-dunking style who gives a shit that the tides have finally turned for once??
Like eat your own medicine lmfao
White knights complaining about positive threads meeting negative replies is the MOST HILARIOUS complaint when the opposite have been instigated BY THE VERY SAME PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS FOR YEARS
eh, you can call me a big softie cause I usually don't enjoy dunking on people. I'd rather keep dunking on CS3 and holding them accountable for their shit decisions and products.Dude after three expansions of people pointing out legitimate issues with the game being shut down Twitter ratio-dunking style who gives a shit that the tides have finally turned for once??

Now that the story stopped distracting the masses from the rest of the product it at least makes people aware of the product they are being sold. Seeing how the perception of CS3 and Yoshi-PR as a "benevolent developer" has flipped for many, with people finally opening their eyes to the slop to the point of the ffxiv subreddit even openly being critical is very satisfying though.
