I can already taste the hysteria two or three years later when FF14 players all quit and become FF14 refugees in WoW LMAO

You'd have to pay me to even play WoW for a month. I've never liked the art style and the visuals for combat/UI are hideous. If I quit FFXIV I'd either just quit MMOs for a while or maybe dip my toe back into FFXI for a bit or something.

Funny as it seems, 1.0 was better than what we have now.

It really wasn't. People seriously need to take the rose-colored glasses off when talking about 1.0... we barely had anything and so much of it was jank. Were a few concepts promising? Sure. But the overall package was still completely subpar.

Housing auto-demolition didn't exist when housing was first released. It was a player-requested feature added in 3.1. They even commented at the time something along the lines of "it's not how we'd prefer to fix the system, but you're all asking for it, so..."

They still need to fix it properly, of course, but the idea it was set up by SE as some nefarious hostage-taking cash-grab from day 1 just isn't true.
