The extra .5 months till next patch will be because of holydays and the next, they figure something out...The extra .5 months is prolly due to expansion launch, patches should drop back to 4 month pace. I was expecting 7.2 for March 11th/18th but Hyperia reminded me that Yoshi P wants to give his employees time off for the holidays which should put 7.2 at March 18th/25th, the latter still being an entire week away from April.
That being said, the issue isn't the duration of the patch, it's that the content of the patch is too sparse and shortform. To be clear, I'm one of the people who usually appreciates Yoshi P's mantra "don't spend all your leisure time on this game, take some time to play other games". It's nice that I'll be done with all of 7.1 story content the day it releases, because DQ3 Remake releases literally two days later and I'd like to spend more time with that. I also still enjoy doing the massive backlog of old content I have in this game, and I have plenty of weekly fun with my social obligations and Savage prog. But the thing is, I pay a monthly sub, so I'd like some chunks of actual new content to do here and there throughout the patch, but we aren't getting chunks, we are getting one-and-done morsels, weekly morsels, and high-end battle content that is either above my playgrade(Ultimate) or run-of-the-mill grindfests(EX, Unreal, Chaotic). All the meaty longform content is consistently held back till x.25/x.35. Field Operations, Deep Dungeons, V&C, Limited Jobs, Lifestyle Content and Relics, we should be getting at least some of those in the x.15 patch at the latest.

As expected, late March. Not April.
I look just like the roes next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park.

It was 4 Months and 2 weeks which is basically the current standard, I won't be surprised when it goes to a 5 month cycle.
