Post DT Poll: What Weapon Types would you like to see added to XIV?

I genuinely don't see the appeal of a whip weapon in the context of FFXIV. Wonder what made it so desirable lately.

Reasons I can think of:
• Quistis from VIII
• Rydia from IV
• Seven from Type-0
• Beastmasters from V
• Castlevania
• Indiana Jones
• Catwoman
• Elden Ring (and some of the other Souls games)
• Ivy from the Soul Edge/Calibur series
• Whips are in the interesting position of being an actual weapon but also not a commonly used weapon. They aren't very practical (like scythes), being used more for defense or maybe as a tool.
• As a weapon, whips aren't about brute force, they're more about aiming to maim or disarm, maybe even intimidate. Some portrals of whips in media might even make them look tactical or graceful (using the whip like a rhythmic gymnast's ribbon).
• Whip Blades takes the quirks of Whips and applies them to the ever popular Sword. It could be a sword that transforms into a whip or something like a urumi, which is an extremely long and flimsy sword that is used like a whip.
• Whips commonly are symbolic of dominance, control, authority, sadism, and torture.
• Whips are generally viewed more as feminine-leaning weapons.
• With the two reasons above, whips also have a more sensual/sexual connotation.

Hammer. A two-handed hammer. Make it melee-support; I'll even take Green Mage with a two-handed hammer at this point. Debuffs on enemies, attacks grant a minor boost for those around the GRN, a knockback-Rescue button to boot someone out of the way of a deadly attack.

I'm surprised the Hammer answer is not higher, with both Nero and Gaia using one. But to be fair, calling the category "2 handed bludgeon", while technically true, is not the most evocative naming for hammers. I had to reread the categories several times to find it.

If i had to pick dual pistols, fan blades, alchemic class turned dps or healer, class that uses a floating shawl as a weapon.

While I do enjoy playing Pictomancer and I like its cel-shaded effects, I really wish we had a DoT class to replace old SMN and in another universe we got a 2h-hammer-wielding DoT/debuff caster like Green Mage.

With that possibility closed off, even though I love casters more maybe blitzballer can be the DoT/debuffer of my dreams since ranged phys seems to be the next category due something new.

That said, with the job rework on the horizon I'd be surprised if we get more than 1 new job in the upcoming expansion if we get a new job at all. But we are getting BST limited job later in this expansion and I feel like that will probably either be axes or whips unless the devs throw a curveball like they did with BLU.
