Can we get an official FFXIV account on Bluesky

I don't think Gettr, Parler and Truth Social are relevant platforms, same as blue sky, I wouldn't market my business on them either if it makes you feel better. X just has a giant userbase, so it makes sense to market there, as well as facebook/instagram.

Well it's not so much about needing to feel better as it is pointing out that the right leaning voices had their own social media platforms, some which failed terribly, and that Xitter is on a downward trend for companies trying to reach people. It wouldn't be either/or largely, but the main suggestion would be that FFXIV might want to consider going on bluesky as the userbase is rapidly growing at the moment like from 3.5 million in 2024 to about 27 million as of january 2025.

You mean like how Elon Musk has been throwing a temper tantrum since Dec 25 2024? Where he was taking away peoples blue check marks and suspending accounts for people who disagreed with him? And that the people he was doing this to were on the same right-wing side as him? After all the "fragile people" as you put it moved to bluesky.

EDIT: Or how he has been known to tweak X's algorithm so his posts gets more visibly shown. Which originally started because he was getting less clout over football.

Instead I love the hypocrisy coming from Bluesky users. The very same people who moan about Censorship on twitter, were conviently silent when Twitter was banning their political opponents in 2016. Either all censorhip is OK, or none of it is. People need to stop pretending like they care about freedom of speech when in reality, they do not. The snowflake attitude has gotten so bad that now we must have separate redundant platforms to pander to either "Left" or "Right" leaning people lest anyone ever have their views challenged.

Well yes we had that world before, it was years ago by this point when platforms were more neutral. And that yes, rocking the boat in either direction is not exactly stable or good for business or association. I am simply viewing what was once twitter as a metaphorical titanic, it's hit the iceberg, it is slowly sinking, the lifeboats are going out. And that if your company your going to look for what platforms have not done the same.

If we can get official communications on other platforms, that would be neat. I think I've seen TikTok ads for XIV a few weeks ago, so I guess that's definitely possible?

Regardless of which platform is bigger, there is essentially zero opportunity cost. All the SE Social Media people have to do is set up an account and then remember to copy paste whatever they put on twitter, over to Bluesky as well.

This is the core point people are arguing around, the thread isn't about "SE should post FFXIV news on Bluesky instead of Twitter", it's "FFXIV should also have a Bluesky account", in general these forums argue a lot about things that would be a flat benefit, as it would have zero negative impact on anyone not using Bluesky while benefiting those who do, unless they have a vested interest in keeping people on Twitter at any cost.

I'm sure you'll find hypocrites wherever you look, but there are many reasons for the migration from X to other platforms, many of which have nothing to do with political ideology.

This from The Japan Times (Nov 25 2024):

“Most Japanese users pay little attention to the U.S. culture war,” argues Jeffrey J. Hall, a researcher specializing in Japanese politics, nationalism and pop culture.

“Changes in terms of service regarding AI (artificial intelligence), changes in the block feature and the presence of so many bot-like ‘impression zombie’ accounts are viewed negatively by Japanese users,” he added.

Recently, X updated its terms of service allowing third-parties to train their AI models on X user data and announced changes that will allow blocked users to continue to view posts of those who blocked them.

As the title says, can we get an official FFXIV account on Bluesky? "X" isn't exactly a great platform and I don't feel like using it (or any Meta owned platform while we're at it) to have an official feed. Having the choice to follow on Bluesky would be great for those of us not wanting to support one of Elon Musk's businesses.

bluesky is just a political statement against twitter. and while im happy it exists, its not worth a company to completely overhaul their community team for.

Huh, this is patently false. We know X broke the mold when it was acquired. If it had been part of the bandwagon it would’ve kept suppressing right leaning voices just like everyone else was doing back then.

The fact Facebook realized their moderation teams were too politically biased was a self reflection they came to recently but might fit your argument better than X, as it is shifting with the politics.

And while do not think blue sky is big enough to be relevant, it also is providing its own bias and could provide some balance, particularly if it was bigger. I just wouldn’t find it necessary to market my business there personally right now.

You are conveniently neglecting the fact that Jack Dorsey himself has also shifted to the right in the past few years. These people are all part of the bandwagon.

I would expect FFXIV on X and Bluesky to provide identical information. This will mean that X and Bluesky users will have access to the same information. The problem with using X for FFXIV and Bluesky for everything else is: are you frickin kidding me?

Meanwhile, absolutely nobody has explained in this thread why FFXIV adding Bluesky to the host of other SM platforms it currently uses would make anyone's life worse in any way.

go on. Again i couldnt care less since i boycott social media as much as i can. explain to me why this would be that hard. Let out politics and just tell why it does matter on which link you are clicking ?
