Yeah it's the lies and broken promises.I think the main point here is loosing trust in the devs of FF14. It was said in ShB, that the amount of hats Hrothgar and Viera could wear would be adapted as time went on with ongoing patches. However, that promise never came to be. The silence on the teams side to not speak on that matter is speaking volumes. We are the entirety of ShB, EW and the first patches of DT in and the progress of hats and hair is minimal.
It's the fact that it's not even that hard or complicated to fix.
It's the silence.

Commenting to bump this. I'm already taking a break once my subscription runs out.
Did you end up unsubbing? If no one did the boycott then that kind of makes the whole thing moot and removes the prospective incentive for Square to do anything.
(Not trying to be combative, I'm genuinely curious if anyone actually took any action as advertised in this topic)

I'm unsubbing after fru (yeah know I know) and tbh I think for it to get any sort of message across there would be like, a petition or list to show SE that that is the reason for the unsub is.Did you end up unsubbing? Yep still subbed but stopping after fru. I think there needs to be some sort of list or petition or thread on here where people can say 'hey this is the reason I'm unsubbing' .

Unsubbing doesn't send a message about this. You don't get an exit interview. They'll just assume people are "playing something else".
They have no way of knowing that people are leaving, nor do I think they care.
SE seems to be very dumb about managing their finances, they'll blame everything and everyone else before they take accountability for their bad choices.
They'll continue to take from the money and talent from the FFXIV pool until everyone is tired and it's put into maintenance mode like FFXI, where they will milk both the regulars to satisfy their other IP dreams.

The problem with all of these calls for boycotts is that the people making them are literally incapable of dragging themselves away from the game. No matter what issue the thread is about, it's never actually enough of a problem to get the OP to quit playing the game. Thus, it stands to reason that it's certainly not enough of a problem to get other people to quit playing the game, though clearly what all the OPs want is for some critical mass of people who aren't them to cancel their subscriptions, (magically) resulting in their issue of choice being addressed.
I mean, the OP of this very thread just admitted, "Nope, haven't stopped, I'll stop after one more boss, I swear." One more smoke. One more drink. One more hand of blackjack. One more boss. I swear.
If the Viera/Hrothgar issue is that big of a deal to you, put your money where your mouth is, unsubscribe from the game, and just check back in once a month or so to see if they've resolved it. I unsub from FFXIV all the time when I'm not playing. The first time you do it, you have like two days where you're thinking, "oh no, I'm not doing this daily, or capping tomestones, or reclearing this fight, or progging this other fight," or whatever, and then you pretty much immediately stop caring. It's very freeing. Stop spending money to let computer-generated-bunny-person rendering shortcomings plague your daily thoughts.

I understand where you're coming from about me not unsubbing yet. And I know that just unsubbing does nothing as it could be for any reason. Especially now with the reception to DT in general.
What I want to do is an actual organized unsub where there is either a petition style site of large thread on here with people saying 'hey THIS a is why I'm unsubbing' .
