FFXIV will be offline and dead.

Cause it's one of SEs big cash cows and if FFXIV falls they can't keep it around and on maintenance mode.
If it doesnt even take SE down with it.

FF11 says otherwise. That is still around and on maintenance mode.

If for whatever reason SE's income reduced to hardly anything, the logical result would be they would not have the funds for other projects that are destined to fail and they may even have to make people redundant. But I am sure they would still be able to have some staff to maintain it. Although at that point, there would likely be companies trying to buy SE.

However there are some other factors here. The next FF7R game is still in the works. They could obviously try the same with other popular FF games such as FF9 after that for the money grab. And they may have another numbered FF game in the works.

In any case, this game was completely fine when it had half the active population it currently does.
