It makes these major hazardous moments feel cartoonish when the villains are kind enough to postpone their global dominance so we can help someone who no longer exists recover their wedding band.

I think they could have done those parts as something like glitches in the system that had to be resolved before we could access the terminal in each area. Still covers the "getting to know the people" part without having that be the kind of flimsy excuse for why we did it.

So I discovered that is my alt's raid leader who did that Reddit post and he's done a full analysis. It's very fun just to see what each character's common words are. And it also shows the uneven distribution in DT really well. The only expansion that is similar is not SB surprisingly but HW. But that makes sense because most of that was a road trip with Alphinaud and two people who spoke in grunts and sighs.

This is wild. By the end of 7.X, she'll probably have the second place behind Alphinaud, that is the only scion that has been here at every step of the story since ARR. I was "hyuck" when a saw the previous metrics about DT only, but those ones just leave me flabbergasted.

That's.. highly alarming tbh.
While only brief we did get a break from her in one Zone and she hasn't showed up in Alliance Raid stuff that he also counted...... yet...
And we still got 4 whole ass patches left to go till we're finally done with Dawntrail. Meaning loads of chances for more Wookie-Yappin'.

I fully expect for Wuk Lamat to surpass Alisaie.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of her getting mentionned in every side quest. Bakool Ja Ja mention her in the alliance raid (there was also a still shot of her at one moment). Every time after the second boss, I'm "could you not, I've heard of her enough for a lifetime". She is mentionned in the last Pelupelu quest. She is also mentionned in the last quest of the new special delivery. And it's barely relevant, it's there to say "Hey, don't forget, Wuk Lamat is a thing". We've been pretty clear, her suffocationg presence was one of the biggest DT problems, so please, stop shoving her in our face one way or the other. Please let us breathe.

People comparing Lyse to Wuk Lamat really dont know what they are talking about, to be honest. Other than ''female lead that I dislike''.

Wuk Lamat gets too much dialogue and thats about it, but also the loudest haters of her are mostly transphobes that are grabbing into any issue, no matter how minor or non-existent. People are expecting way too much emotional payoff and ''epic'' moments out of DT. The devs said like add nauseum that DT was going to be the ARR of a new arc - wanting DT to hit the same highs that ShB/EW is not only delusional but also its not sustainable. WoW suffers of this, the constant power scaling has been awful for the game's story.

Also? People need to get over themselves a bit too. EW and ShB also had cooldown moments that ''wasted your time''.

Lyse as a whole was a terrible character because she becomes the spotlight of the Ala Mhigo arc at the cost of literally everyone else. This is specially bad when you notice that Lyse, who gets told that she doesnt have the right to be the hero and force people to fight for her ideals back in Doma, ends up doing exactly that in Ala Mhigo... where like 3-4 characters (all darker skinned, too) get killed off or sidelined to try to make Lyse the practically queen of Ala Mhigo.

There is a reason why the patch MSQ redeemed Lyse by demoting her to just A leader of Ala Migho, focusing more on Raubahn as the more de facto leader of Ala Mhigo.

Ahhh, the classic "Wuk Lamat haters are transphobes" twitter take in order to downplay and deflect any and all criticisms people have. Guess that means the Japanese/German/French players who played Dawntrail in their own languages and didn't even know the English VA for Wuk Lamat was a trans person are also transphobic if they hate Wuk Lamat, right?

You even did the old, standard follow ups by screaming "WELL X EXPANSIONS STORY ALSO HAD-" along with "BUT LYSE IS SO MUCH WORSE THEN WUK" in there too. Hell, you even went above and beyond and threw in a "Well the devs have something against black people in Stormblood given they killed so many to prop up Lyse and please white people" racist undertones too, even though that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Dawntrail or even the current conversation, but hey you do what you gotta do to gaslight for some extra responses I guess.

Now then, if you're not even going to attempt to have an actual discussion about Dawntrail's current state or give any conversation points other then vomiting out the same Twitter driven assumption and deflection bullshit that does absolutely nothing but derail any discussions and legitimate criticisms about Dawntrail, then you may as well wipe your chin off first before you go back down there, because it's pretty apparent that what you're "saying" is being done in bad faith and is just to get reactions and fish for "gotchas" and not actually offer much to the conversation.

Dawntrail is a overall good expansion that falls flat for me since it is shallow, the cowboy area makes no sense for me to exist, the MSQ is simply too long, and the world-ending threat is unnecessary.

I think you're closer to identifying the real issue than a lot of the other people in this thread, but there's something you said that I need to contest, which is that the MSQ is too long. 7.0 is actually shorter than most of the other .0 questlines. When it comes to number of quests, 2.0 has 211 (though you only play 160-161 of them per character), 3.0 has 94, 4.0 has 122, 5.0 has 106 (112 if you include the mandatory role quests), 6.0 has 108, and 7.0 has 100. 7.0 is the second-shortest, with only 3.0 being shorter. The reason why 7.0 feels longer than it really is is because the writers tried to cram a lot into that short time frame.

In my opinion, this is the real root behind Dawntrail's issues. It was intended to be a sort of new beginning for the story after the conclusion of the Hydaelyn & Zodiark saga (the 6.x quests were more like a brief detour), introducing two new continents with numerous cultures as well as a nation from an entirely new world, yet the writers tried to fit this all within 100 quests. That's why so much of Dawntrail's story and setting feels half-cooked.

I think there are a few reasons why Wuk Lamat receives so much blame for Dawntrail's issues despite not being the source of the problem.

1. Players personally find her annoying/don't like her voice/etc. and mistake that for her being an objectively bad character.

2. Her arc is one of the few things the writers really made an effort to not cut corners with, and this resulted in her getting a lot of spotlight while other major characters didn't get enough. This isn't to say that they didn't cut any corners with her, but they definitely cut less with her than with the other major Dawntrail characters.

3. It's common for fandom spaces to be more harsh toward female characters than male characters, and with FFXIV in particular, it's kind of standard procedure to blame the most prominent female character at any given point when the MSQ is divisive. (Just look at what happened to Minfilia and Lyse.)

that's actually kind of shocking, in 6 months wuk lamat has almost talked as much as the main narrators of the story have in 11 years? o_O
I guess massive overexposure could be a part of why she bothers me so much
