Wow, Wuk Lamat is really single-handedly ruining the DT story...

Not one to post often if ever on the forums but I did not particularly enjoy Wuk Lamat or the story at all. Everyone has already said everything there is to say on the freefall of overall quality of the story and thereon the lack of meaningful content. What I will say as just another voice in the crowd is that I have religiously watched every cutscene, 1.0, ARR-Endwalker, terrible side quests and role quests. Anything that had a cutscene, I'd sit through it for better or worse. I can honestly say I think I only skipped maybe 10-15 cutscenes until Dawntrail came out, maybe because I'm an idiot or a masochist. Dawntrail comes out and I can't bring myself to sit through anything at all. I was so offput by the writing and characters I managed to level every single class in the game to 100, crafters and gatherers included, before even finishing the MSQ. To me, in my way and experience of playing the game, that's absolutely bananas. I don't know. It all just makes me kinda sad. I really want to love and be into Dawntrail because I know I'm stuck with it now for so long. I've been with FFXIV for so long and I'm not honestly that difficult to please but this so far has just generally been unacceptable, sub-par and it's not worth the price of purchase. ):

This is exactly how I feel. I Love the game, but Dawn Trail lost me. After the first ten minutes, if I saw a cut scene, I immediately skipped it because after saving the whole world, I was demoted to babysitting an idiot.

To be fair, I dislike Smile because it was overused and used in the wrong spots. For the Coronation? Sure, why not, it's a Disney moment and people are happy. Building a train? Anything but that song pls. Also I felt bad for the singer- She did great for Scream,.but in Smile it felt like she was having problems keeping up.

Probably the big thing that she has so many words referring her too with Third Promise and Lamatyi to where she's mention 468 times through the story and let's not forget that some of the dawnservant can be attributed to her as well.

Also "Thancred and Uriganger will be key characters!"

Doesn't show up at all in this list.

I find it funny that Bakool Ja Ja's most used word is Gehehehe, Otis' having a 3-way tie with one of his just being Hahaha, and fucking Mablu having more lines then Zoraal Ja and Bakool Ja Ja.

But looking at this info, if it's accurate anyway: the fact Wuk Lamat has almost triple the amount of "count of lines" along with about 2.5 times the amount of "count of words" then Erenville, who already has a pretty sizeable lead over 3rd place Krile is just...disappointing. They really did just kind of go completely all in on her given they made an entire expansion essentially be completely dependent on whether or not people do ultimately like Wuk Lamat and that is...certainly a decision to have made.

Something else I should probably point out is that while we already have her name proper, Third Promise and Lamayti as other references for her. Let's not forget Dawnservant and Vow of Resolve as well. I think that would probably be about at least 500 times that Wuk is being referred to during the whole msq and people say it takes about 21 hours to do all of dawntrail's story. That would be Wuk get's referenced at least once every 2 and a half minutes. Heck even in the reddit thread, people who liked her at first said they were outright sick of her by the time of heritage found and how much they hope to not see her any more after the vanilla was done.

Edit: Of the characters in that list as well, Erenville, Krile, Koana, Alphinaud, Mablu, and Gulool Ja Ja all have her name or one of her titles as one of their most used words is also another issue as well.

Can we take a moment to appreciate that the most used word/phrase for second place Erenville and third place Krile is "Wuk Lamat?" Hell, even Allisae uses Wuk Lamat (albeit as the familiar variant of her name) as Third Most. You need to go all the way down to Cachuia for Wuk to not be involved in the top three words used.

I'd love to see that analysis done on Stormblood since Wuk gets compared to Lyse so much. We traveled with Lyse but SB was much more of an ensemble focus and I bet the numbers would be a lot more even and spread out, which could be great to compare against the imbalance in Dawntrail.
