Square Enix should limit housing to one house per account, a policy that should have been implemented years ago. Allowing players to hoard houses solely to farm Submarines is unreasonable and clearly not what was originally intended.

Account wide locks would be problematic to people with alts on different servers and data centers, which has legitimate use cases due to things that are homeworld locked. This wouldn't be a popular measure unless coupled with a mixed ward/instance system -- in that case, it would be totally fair to lock people to one house per account in a ward, while still allowing alts on other data centers to have an instanced place to put their furniture.
Now, a more strictly enforced one house per account per homeworld, I would absolutely support. That would at least force all those submarine farmers with dozens of alt-transferred shell FCs to at least have a different paid account for each FC house they control on a world and maybe end the "some people own whole wards" thing.
They need to do away with this system and give something more scalable.
They want it to function like a 'friendly neighborhood" - But it's rarely if ever used in this manner by the community.
I never understood why some players try to own an entire ward. If I were a sublord, I'd aim to acquire all the prime mediums and larges not a bunch of measly smalls.

A cottage or a mansion run the same number of submarines. For submarine farmers, it is about quantity, not quality. Owning 20 smalls at 3M each vs owning 1 large at 60M means twenty times the income generated.
it's closer to twelve times the income, you didn't factor in buying the construction permits or the workshops

That doesn't sound right? Every sub farming FC plot has the same average long term revenue stream. Each also needs to buy the workshop exactly once per such revenue stream to be created, and also one construction permit exactly. In terms of setup cost adjusted revenue, you'd still come out at twenty times.

Yeah, I only run my FC submarines and that's like 500k - 1.7 mill every two days. Even with the new levels added to the submarines in patches the amounts have stayed the same. I don't need to "make gil" anymore after I set up the submarines and leveled them.
Multiply that with someone with a whole fleet of submarines and you get how much SE shot themselves in the foot with the housing problem.

Please add more wards and give every ward more large housing plots.
