    i'll do ya one better remove it from caster dps and then change how phoenix downs work because this would solve that issue i'd say making so that when you use a phoenix down it puts a status effect on you called "raise" or some such an once you die that effect expires an to prevent the use of spamming phoenix downs make it so that it can only be applied outside of combat etc. this will allow players to get another chance while not effecting healer disciplines.

    While I’m intrigued by the idea of them all having a raise, especially the one commenter that suggested in another thread that BLM’s should be some sort of zombie/Living Dead type of raise, I think having 2 that can raise and 2 that can’t is at least balanced, and it fits into the job fantasies of RDM and SMN. RDM because it’s a mix of black and white magic, SMN because Phoenix. I may quibble about how much the “raise tax” on damage should be, because ideally you don’t have to use it much, but having it available saves the duty for everyone if you lose one or both healers.

    As far as other job balancing goes though, I’m in favor of the “low skill floor/high skill ceiling,” where every job is viable. In a game with 30-ish jobs now, where new jobs get added every expansion, there shouldn’t be any that are considered “worthless” to play, or locked out of PFs. To a certain extent, we have this, because someone who plays a job that’s considered low dps, but plays it well, can still out-dps a job considered high-dps that isn’t playing theirs optimally.

    Now for my personal wish list, truly all I want is for SMN to get Levi, Shiva and Ramuh added as gem summons. For the love of the Twelve, do NOT add another Demi until after those are added! And if they’re feeling really generous, add another filler spell so I have something besides Ruin spam for burst delays, and make SMN’s Physick have the power of a Vercure or Second Wind, so it’s actually useful for when my Lux inevitably expires right before I need it!

    One thing and probably only thing they need to do to "fix" job design in xiv is to have less raid buffs and make it to have long cooldowns like pots(1~2 time per pull in EX/Savage fights) and buff the % of buff,remove skills like manafication(gauge fillers) so you'll want need to think about when to spen the resources and the meta of raid buffs will be more strategic like using it to pass the dps check phase when ppl have Weakness debuff.
    Buffer jobs like DNC and BRD should be more about permanent buffs that they keep it active all the time instead of burst.
    This way they don't have to make every jobs to have 2min burst and give jobs more interesting resource management,skills like DoTs.
    Adding more types of pots like instacast potion,heal boost,something like "sacrifice" spell in bozja will be interesting too.
    I like DoTs in rpgs so hopefully they bring them back or have DoT oriented jobs once we moved away from 2min meta.

    atm every job of the same type feels like the exact same thing with different filler rotations

    Jobs actually feeling different like they originally did instead of blah blah 1 minute blah blah blah 2 minute would be kind of amazing.
    Buttons could go way down too, like... do tanks need 57 different damage reduction skills... or do tanks need a single damage reduction skill with a short enough cooldown that it functions exactly the same way. Like it's literally devolved to the point where you use multiple skills per tankbuster because there are so freaking many it's balanced around using multiple at once
    Same thing with OGC healing, do healers really need like 1.5 hotbars of skills that all effectively do the exact same thing?

    honestly, it's the same problem though. They don't want to break the molds so they just add more and more fluff skills that don't actually add anything mechanically. Like look at the dawntrail ones, feels like90% of them aren't even new things it's just doubletap a button you already had
    I honestly don't understand the extreme cowardice with job design. Take some freaking swings, it's your game you can balance it as often as necessary
