I mean it's, what? 1 quest down from 2. It isn't really that significant. 1 quest or 2 quests it honestly doesn't matter since once they are done, that is it... They are done.
Always found Hildibrand kinda meh.

then thats a 50% reduction in content ;/ for the people who actually wanted to do this this is kinda not okay.
I'm just coming back from a break so I haven't done it yet but I wouldn't necessarily call a reduction in quest count a reduction in content. How long does the one quest take to do compared to doing the individual quests in the series past?
If doing one quest keeps me occupied for a half hour when in the past it took 3 quests to keep me occupied for a half hour, I wouldn't call it a reduction in content. I would call it streamlining the story flow to remove pointless quest breaks. I'm not going to miss the extra 3k gil or whatever I would have gotten if it had been split into multiple quests.
Now if doing the one quest takes the same 10 minutes as a single past quest, then it's a reduction in content.
Considering that we lack content, 10 min or 30 min doesn't make that much difference if my next update is going to be in March.I'm just coming back from a break so I haven't done it yet but I wouldn't necessarily call a reduction in quest count a reduction in content. That is how they have been getting us though. They just shave things off little by little until there is practically nothing left. And sometimes there just is nothing left and things are forgotten.
And while I agree that Hildi is very meh, he has been since they reintroduced him in 2.0, 1.0 Hildi was peak, it is a sign of a much bigger problem this game has been suffering for years now and should be called out.
I mean, was, yes, at this point it's just meh and resources I think they could use better elsewhere, granted that's just my opinion. But regardless there has never really been a solid precedent set around Hildibrand, e.g., it isn't unheard of to do 1 Hildibrand quest in a patch as they have done so before, and in the case of Shadowbringers, I don't think we had any. That is how they have been getting us though. I just don't really view it as 'cut content' as such, because quests and such are shifted and moved around all the time. Most people just don't really notice them.

Hey now hildebrand content is fun. Yet you do make a good statement on the abuse of of how content being treated. That is how they have been getting us though. You open the door theres nothing in sight. You close the door wondering whats in sight. But lets be honest its probably gonna just let you down.
The "Doesn't bother me so I don't see the problem" attitude is why this game is becoming a shell of what it was. We should not be tolerating their bare minimum efforts, we bankroll the company.

Nobody said anything about it not affecting me, I just don't think it matters whether it is 1 quest or 2 quests ultimately as they have no replay value, nor do they really add anything aside comedic effect. they would still be trying to tell the same story regardless of whether it is 1, 2, 3 or 4 quests, I just think it is meh content with very little substance, and I am going to call it that, am I going to do it? Probably as it is likely going to have achievements and rewards tied to it.
My biggest problem is that number of quests for content is not really an easy measurement of 'cut content' as quests are shifted around and moved all the time, and not all quests are as equally as substantive so there is that. You could say the exact same about looking at quests in purely a numeric perspective, since it is concerned with purely the number of quests, rather than the actual substance and delivery of the quests themselves, which frankly the developers have fallen flat on for many many years.
Shall we start talking about 'cut quests' from the main scenario too. because this one had 100, Endwalker had 108, and OMG ShB had 106... This is why I see it as a fairly pointless perspective.
Edit: We can talk about "Why this game is becoming a shell of what it was", but the reality of this is looking at content in a numeric perspective, especially quests, is exactly a contributory factor to this issue, which clearly OP seems concerned that it was cut to ONE quest, rather than whether the quest was actually good or not.
