New Zealand excluded from FFXIV EW Sweepstakes?

    Seriously SE?

We cant buy items from the SE store, We never get to take part in sweepstakes such as this one.

I know SE thinks NZ is in Europe (Their support team said as much when i once asked why NZ is charged in Euros despite every other MMO charging us in US$) but seriously, get with the times. Its not the 1800's anymore Japan.

Its getting a bit much always being excluded from everything, its 5 million people with a good number of players, one or two even stayed on the OCE Datacenter despite the neglect and isolation its received by SE!

Anyway thats my frustration vent done i guess.
Just think it would be nice if company's would stop excluding people down here from every online event not too mention 10+ years of merch we have not been able to buy off the SE store, the in game items we will never be able to get (Like the Omega or Ultima Emotes) and the other promotional items like the Butterfinger (They dont sell them in NZ) mount and hell, despite Mt Dew being on sale here, NZ was excluded from the promotion.
Gong Cha even was unavailable to most the NZ player base as it is only in i think 2
    city's.
Some of us cant spend 8-12 hours on the road, spend hundreds of dollar's on fuel and basically drive the same distance as Pennsylvania to South Carolina or Scotland to London for $25NZ worth of Boba and a mount!

For those who don't know what im talking about, here: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...2b1ec9a5223d8b
Maybe someone who didn't know about it can enter and have a shot for themselves.

Things like this are almost always about local laws/licensing/etc.

I'm sure SE would probably love to sell everything everywhere, but every country has different laws and regulations, so it's not always possible. It's much more likely that something in the NZ sweepstakes regulations is holding this back, than it being a lack of interest from SE.

The problem is that they don't even seem to keep up with laws and regulations- small company, you know? "it's not possible" is not a really good excuse when a country, or a part of a country (points to Quebec) modifies its laws and Square doesn't bother to take any notice, year after year, just keeps excluding them from contests. I mean, it's not like they can afford to have people that monitor/validate or, and research this in Marketing/Legal, right?

In New Zealand, Sweepstakes style contexts are allowed under their gambling law IF AND ONLY If it adhears to the proper definition under the gambling act. A short of that definition:

Businesses can not make any commercial gain from the sales promotion, other than through the normal trading of goods and services.

Now, the question about the sweepstakes is, "does all the media following and attention constitute the normal trading of goods and services?" Because more media exposure can definately be seen as a commercial gain. And does it fall under all the other details of the New Zealand Gambling act? Which can be found here btw: https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/...DLM207497.html

To say that the legal team of a company doesn't keep up with laws, especially one with as many gacha games as square, is laughable. Fact of the matter is that, if this isn't available in your country, it's going to be due to your country's laws and the risk associated with them in regards to any potential misstep.

But please. Keep spouting nonsense from your soap box. It let me learn a little about New Zealand today.

As your clearly misunderstood my post, I wouldn't point fingers and call any else's post "nonsense", you didn't even understand my point. It's even more amusing to assume that someone who lives in a region of a country being excluded - not a whole county- which, again, you misunderstood, would not understand why they would be excluded because- well - what do you know- those regulations are public knowledge just like New Zealand!!

Again, that would have been applicable in the past, but should no longer- typically - apply - now do you understand? Once again, if a company sells a product in that region, and then has a promotion, they should be aware if the laws change.

Now, don't you feel better? Now you learned about other areas too!

Ahh damnit. I actually had no clue our laws would make that difficult, although i fail too see how in this case since SE isnt charging for entries.

Still would be nice for them to open up the store to us so we can actually buy merch. I have missed out on 10 years of XIV merch with in game items due too them "not shipping to your region". "SE considers New Zealand a part of Europe."
