I don't like healing, but an instant heal would be nice. Benediction hass too short a range, and Presence of Mind+ Cura = same time it takes to cast cura by itself.
What situations are you getting in to struggle to cure people?
Yeah I worded that one wrong. I meant you can cast Cura twice during the time a regular Cura due to the recast timer on it, he was struggling on not being able to cast Cure due to the recast on it, perhaps he meant Cures. Seeing as Cure and Cura are two different spells he has at his disposal.
In endgame situations.... it would be such a waste to use Presence of Mind for Cura.... Presence of Mind is used for Raise and it's a godsend if one of the healers goes down, and you're able to raise them in two seconds....
I would never consider using presence of mind+cura ...it almost always has to be saved for raise.
Yes I would like this, especially for PVP. Or give bard some actual USEFUL songs that can reduce recast times. The bard songs in this game make me sad with how meh they are in compared to alllllll the other mmo I've played.
Lack of an instant cure spell is not game breaking -- but since White Mage is mainly expected to heal and keep the party members alive, having one instant cast heal would be a welcome addition, IMO.
Usually in Cutter's Cry and Aurum Vale where your party can get overrun by monsters -- either all the soldier ants that spawn around Princess or Chimera, or because the standard tactic is for the tank to pull all monsters from a room into one area and let the Black mages AoE bomb them.
Fairly often a Black Mage or White Mage (after a heal) will draw hate from multiple enemies and quickly go from full HP to dead before anyone can sub-target them and get a cure spell cast.
The pulling & bombing situation can be avoided by simply not doing it -- but that means no more speed runs, nor the rewards that are only obtainable that way.
Anyway, for me it would be a "nice to have" but not a "must have".
I think Benediction would be it. If your tank is near death and you must pop bene, then good. In the end if you didn't, tank was going to die anywaysPlus if you do things right, you shouldn't get too much hate from Bene. I know I haven't had much trouble getting rid of hate from it.
For Aurum vale, if a Warrior Collusions a mage before they use Flare/Firaga/Whatever, you can coordinate with the others to use Quelling Strike. With that and Steel Cyclone the mages shouldn't be taking hate. It also helps for Sleepga to be thrown around before the mages begin casting. It also helps IMMENSELY for the WHMs to begin spamming Curaga the exact moment you see people's stoneskin wear off. As Arty has also said, get use out of Benediction. Most speed runs tough it out through one of the poison rooms and get the fruit for the other. It's a perfect time to use Benediction as that is what it's there for, everyone is gathered together for Curagas anyway, and it will be up by the time you will probably need it again (the boss). I can only vouch for Aurum Vale, though.
Hell, thinking about it now, Pre-emptive Curagas is perfect for BLM aoe bombing if you can practice timing it right. When it lands it will automatically hit whoever needed it.

I keep hearing this about bene being a death sentence, and i Know it was for the most part in 11 cus it actually had a built in threat modifier, but in 14 it seems to only generate as much hate as an equal amount of curing would. I'm main tank and whm is more my pet project, but I've never seen a whm pull using bene nor have I done so myself. Perhaps in exp situations, but for endgame (speed runs, moogle, ifrit) I've never seen it happen. Even in Chim fight (which seems to me to be the only time whms ever pull threat, and the new changes to emnity materia should alleviate that even for groups whose tanks don't have HDL).
That said, use bene more without fear tbh. As to the topic at hand, a hi mp cost, long recast isntant cure would be really nice I think. Perhaps as an ability that sacrifices hp (there aren't currently abilites that use up mp are there?) would work as well. Just something we can do in the space of a single "ability crouch."
