Man i wish i could live in the bliss u all live in cause damn Pso2 ngs got this worse than ff14. Anyone who been with ngs knows the only content that game really gets is AC scratch lol aka u gotta spend money on fashion.Honestly, there is hardly a burnout aspect when any 'long-term' content is currently exclusively within raids, and where anything outside of that is a 2 hour ordeal at most. There is not enough being produced, unless you're quite literally playing the MMO as little as humanly possible. I could go on any game right now, play it for 30-45 minutes per day and go, "Man, that game almost took me a month to complete".
Doesn't make it any better, all that is happening is an infrequent amount of playing to substitute for content that is stretched thinly as humanly possible, and distributed in the worst way humanly possible.
You open the door theres nothing in sight. You close the door wondering whats in sight. But lets be honest its probably gonna just let you down.
PSO2 being worse than FFXIV is frankly an irrelevant whataboutism.
Who is paying who, was never disclosed. For all we know, it is a joined venture. With CBU3 overseeing the project so that it stays true to the FFXIV experience, whatever that means nowadays.
And, the primary audience is not China, it's everyone who has a smartphone.
Here is a small overview, done by ChatGPT for anyone interested:
Square Enix has officially announced the development of Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, a mobile adaptation of its popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV. The project is a collaboration with Lightspeed Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent known for developing PUBG Mobile. - MASSIVELY OP
Funding and Development:
Lightspeed Studios, whose core founding members are dedicated Final Fantasy XIV fans, initiated the project by presenting a comprehensive proposal to Naoki Yoshida, the game's original director and producer. This collaboration aims to faithfully recreate the Final Fantasy XIV experience on mobile platforms. - MMORPG.COM
Monetization:
Final Fantasy XIV Mobile will adopt a free-to-play model. Notably, it will not include gacha mechanics, which are common in many mobile games. The developers have emphasized that players can enjoy the game fully without heavy monetization, though specific details on the monetization strategy have yet to be disclosed. - SILICONERA
Target Audience:
The mobile version is designed to appeal to both existing Final Fantasy XIV players and newcomers who prefer gaming on mobile devices. It aims to provide a comprehensive MMORPG experience, including combat, crafting, gathering, and mini-games like fishing, Triple Triad, and Chocobo racing, all optimized for mobile play. - POCKET GAMER
Initial playtests are scheduled to begin in China, with plans for a global release thereafter. The development team intends to make adjustments based on player feedback to ensure a polished experience upon worldwide launch. - FINAL FANTASY XIV

If Yoshida was being honest, he's been overseeing most facets of it, monetization included. That isn't nothing, especially if he was being honest all the times he's talked about being spread thin to the point he rarely looks at what the XIV team is doing.Just to clear up one misunderstanding here: "They" are not developing a mobile version of this game, one of Tencent's game development companies is doing so. Square Enix is investing nothing further than oversight into the mobile game. Well, that and the storyline/art assets. The underlying code is pretty useless for a mobile game.
Tencent is paying Square Enix for the rights to produce the mobile game.
And the primary audience for the mobile game is China. I expect there will be a 'translated' version eventually, in much the same way that Honor of Kings was converted for play outside of China.

FFXIV endgame is all about making your own fun, but you kinda have to seek out content you wanna do. For me right now it's doing Pelu and Namazu Beast Tribes so I can finish all Stormblood tribes, farming shb fates for the new adventurer plates (this grind is insane btw), and even trying FRU. If I get bored of these I can do other stuff like leveling crafters and gatherers, and other stuff I put on hold from finding them boring. But these old grinds I set aside may be a change of pace from the new grinds I've been doing.

Yeah, I'm an MMO addict. I have been since my idiot friend introduced me to WoW in 2010, and since then I've been unable to get enough of the genre.
Unfortunately, WoW lost its soul.
GW2 is one bad quarter away from maintenance mode (according to hearsay).
OSRS is too easy, and too grindy.
EVE is too hard, and an order of magnitude more grindy.
ESO is too poorly balanced and maintained.
Destiny 2 is a FPS wearing the skin of an MMO.
Everything else is too low quality, has too few players, is in maintenance mode, has shut down (RIP Wildstar), or is just an action RPG with an auction house.
FFXIV, despite its problems, is the last place left for me to get my fix.
I wonder if I'll ever find enough sense to go cold turkey?

My outline for a Chemist healer: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/513527-Healer-Concept-Draft-Chemist

Destiny 2 isn't even an FPS any more. It's a seasonal ARPG that happens to contain guns and be played in first person. I mean, have you seen their newer arena designs? There is next to zero effective cover anywhere. You're expected to build into one of several healing-centric keywords and sustain through damage now instead of avoiding it. The good builds are all ability-centric, to the point where you use your grenade and/or melee ability more than your guns. Speaking of your guns, unless you're using a heavy weapon or the current FotM rocket sidearms, your guns at their core are worthless without the right perks. And "the right perks" are either the ones that are just plain strong on their own, or are the ones that trigger the aforementioned keywords.Yeah, I'm an MMO addict. They had to buff exotic primary damage by something like 40 or 50 percent recently just to get people to start using them again, because the meta had shifted to the point where build-defining guns couldn't even make the builds they used to define function properly. You had to get a legendary with the right perk to keep using builds that worked just fine in years past.
I also find it funny that people call it an MMO. Sure, there are dungeons and raids and a heavy emphasis on group content in endgame, and item level and different classes. It's got all the trappings of a standard MMO. But the playerbase itself is beyond antisocial. The overwhelming majority of group content attempts in that game are done via pugs and the game itself gives you next to no reason to build social connections or even utilize your friend list.

Love to wait 6 months for content that's literally "the same thing you were doing but with bigger numbers" and getting a new gacha every other week. Quality game! Which sucks, because the gameplay is actually really fun.

The game's also on its last legs. Only the Steam numbers are publicly visible, but one platform losing over 200k people(312k peak to 80k peak) in 4 months is remarkably bad.Destiny 2 isn't even an FPS any more. I also started WoW in 2010 then swapped to FFXIV, and all that time I played nothing but MMOs until a couple of weeks ago. Going cold turkey was surprisingly easy, you know why? Because since Dawntrail I wasn't getting my fix here anyway. No friends, no lasting content, no attachment to my character anymore, no joy from gameplay, no motivation to see what future updates bring. If you are still getting something out of the game then I'm not surprised you'd feel the need to continue playing. It takes so little to feed a years long addiction, just a few crumbs here and there.Yeah, I'm an MMO addict.
