as much as i agree that FFXIV needs help. Holding SE hostage by mass unsubbing or posting these kinds of threads will not make them act faster. as a company they have strict time schedules and (i would assume) content is constantly being checked for its stability. if everyone unsubbed and demanded SE did better they would just put the game on lockdown for 2 years like they did with 1.0

i know this advise sucks, but just wait till 8.0 before the majority of these glaring issues are dealt with, the backlash is around every corner, and i'm sure they're more than aware of it. What we need right now, in the 11th hour is TRANSPARENCY from the devs about what's actually going on with the game

The problem is, some of the problems have already been there for several years. Critics about content, and how the removal of relics and exploratory zones - basically the only long term content the game had - began to grow during 6.2 (released on august 23 2022) and exploded during 6.3 (released January 10 2023). Basically it's already been 2 years, and the solution would be to wait at least 1.5 years more (probably closer to 2 with the current patch cycle). They had time to plan their calendar better for DT, and chose to change.

Also, game wasn't put on lock down for 2 years in 1.0. The whole point was to make the 1.0 better to not lose the client they had, while developping another version of the game from scratch. And to not lose those clients, they discussed with them and took their feedback. Thing they don't seem to do anymore. One of the remark I often see is how every lessons from 1.0 have been forgotten. Like transparency.

    MSQ: 2 hours. Not repeatable.
Alliance raid: 40 minutes once a week
Pelupelu quests: 5 minutes once a day

    Wow! So much to do!

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot the main piece of content this patch, doing the same 10 minute fight 50 times in a row to get a mount.

the game even tells players to leave feedback through the forums so obviously people are gonna make noise about things they don't like

i understand your perspective and i do think some people could express their feedback in a much healthier way, but i think i'd rather them speak their mind than not, at least from a designer point of view

anyway i wanna take longer breaks from this game but for some reason my feeble brain can't stomach the idea of losing my virtual house, so instead i find enjoyment by achievement hunting w/ friends and playing with random streamers on twitch
The forums do help give information yes, don't get me wrong. But there is also an issue that I see where mundane posts are met with emotionally charged responses when the primary function of this place should be a public forum for information exchange and not a social media site that spends 3000 pages beating a dead horse. It's like this forum flipped over on it's head.

It is both hilarious and distressing that my problems with 7.1 (and the state of the game as a whole) could be written so succinctly. Well done.

Honestly, there is hardly a burnout aspect when any 'long-term' content is currently exclusively within raids, and where anything outside of that is a 2 hour ordeal at most. There is not enough being produced, unless you're quite literally playing the MMO as little as humanly possible. I could go on any game right now, play it for 30-45 minutes per day and go, "Man, that game almost took me a month to complete".

Doesn't make it any better, all that is happening is an infrequent amount of playing to substitute for content that is stretched thinly as humanly possible, and distributed in the worst way humanly possible.

Another thing to consider is that XIV mobile could be built from the ground up without the legacy code from 1.0. That would essentially make it FFXIV v̶2̶.̶0̶ v.3.0, which could make implementing new systems and features much easier in comparison.
Just to clear up one misunderstanding here: "They" are not developing a mobile version of this game, one of Tencent's game development companies is doing so. Square Enix is investing nothing further than oversight into the mobile game. Well, that and the storyline/art assets. The underlying code is pretty useless for a mobile game.

Tencent is paying Square Enix for the rights to produce the mobile game.

And the primary audience for the mobile game is China. I expect there will be a 'translated' version eventually, in much the same way that Honor of Kings was converted for play outside of China.

Honestly the story sucks now. Yet I enjoy ex, dungeons, fishing, arcadian raids, new ff11 dungeon, soon ro be chaotic alliance, and other things not mentioned. There is more to this game than the garbo ( yes ur beloved expansion is really not worth the effort they msde for its budget ,and wuk lamat honestly is not MC material. Honestly not sure how they fumbling this hard when Hildebrand does this in spades.
