Pure White Dyes are expensive. It doens't matter how much I play, I will take free gil lol.

As far as the topic - I like the game so I still play. When I'm bored, I don't - since I'm not addicated. I just come here less when there isn't anything I'm interested in complaining about - as that what this forum seems to focus on.

I'll probably be more active in 7.2 when Wuk returns and I'll get another 200 posts about that or so.

I made a post recently about ways to find social interaction. I've written such posts occasionally through the years https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...=1#post6626688
Thanks for that read. I have come to the conclusion that the reason I "find it hard" to make friends is because I just don't care enough. I'm burned out from MMOs and really only casually play this one due to my "loyalty" to the Final Fantasy franchise. I have a bunch of wonderful friends on other games I play that are (at least for me) more fun. I dislike the mundane combat system in this game so there is little incentive to try to want to make friends to clear content with.

Like I said, thanks for the great read cuz it did help to clear things up.

complaining about some aspects of the game doesn't mean I dislike the game

    Wild to comprehend I know.

Idk why I find it so much harder to make friends in this game. Is it cuz im older? who knows lol.
This game is oddly very anti-social. In that they have designed quite a few systems that seemingly discourage player interaction. In every other MMO I've played, the moment you login you get hit with system messages notifying you of important events as well as telling you every single public chat channel you've entered based on your location. This game doesn't have city wide chat, all cities chat, regional chat, or a global chat channel. FFXIV has "zone wide" chats, but the game doesn't explain this system to you at any point in time. FFXIV has decent little "tutorials" on their website, but at no point in time playing the game does it direct you to these resources. Use /shout chat? O, it doesn't reach the other half of whatever main city you're in because that's a separate instance. Your dungeon just popped and at the same time you see someone request a service/ask a question in a local chat channel. Nope, you can't send private messages in a dungeon/instance either.

This game has some of the worst, if not the absolute worst, UI bloat in any game I've played and the onboarding process for a new player has got to be nuts at this point, let alone if they've never played an MMO, and even worse if they've played very few games in general. Imagine constantly getting hit with tip boxes every time you do something new, on top of trying to just learn the general flow of the game, and you don't even know how to ask for help because the game obfuscates how to actually talk to other players instead of defaulting you into /1 General zone chat, unlike every other MMO I've ever played.

The one social activity available to even do in a nice chill way (maps) has to have been nerfed so hard into the ground that its gotten to the point of full party groups now down to just duo.
22 maps, 5 portals, times gotten past room 2... twice, past room 3 ? Once.

I am sure they got nerfed, "Let us make these coffers rare by making it so that no-one wants to do the content anymore".

Personally I wouldn’t class blatantly malicious or otherwise ‘invalid’ / ‘misleading’ / ‘troll’ or whatever else people do these days to stir up internet drama as being the same as a ‘genuine complaint’.

    I.E
‘This game is trash and it’s probably going in the ground where it belongs and I’ll dance on its grave if it ever does’ - not a ‘genuine’ complaint because it’s just trying to be incendiary and doesn’t really seem like they care what happens
‘This game is dying and it’s because of ‘X’ content it needs this, this and a little bit of this!’
    - it’s overdramatic lol, but by indicating specifically what they want to change it’s more apparent that the person wants things to improve, so it’s still a ‘genuine complaint’ because it’s coming from a place of wanting things to change for the better (regardless of what the feedback ends up being lol).

That’s what I think anyway. Whether people are ‘addicted’ or not is one thing, but I think the constant stream of negative feedback comes from people who actually do (in one way or another) truly care about the game’s future. Not to say that their feedback is always going to make sense or should always be followed lol
Yoshida said himself that the people that are loud as they're leaving are the ones that still care, but the majority will leave without saying a word.

Exactly, and according to some folks, once all the loud complainers who still care leave, FFXIV will apparently enter its "Renaissance." Because, you know, nothing fuels innovation and progress like silence and indifference, right?

That's not to say that there aren't good people here, but this forum is not the reason for it. You get out what you put into something and people can feel it on the other side.
it's really important for players to leave feedback (especially critical feedback) for developers and designers so that they can understand the playerbase's point of view. it may seem like it's just more negativity that is blown out of proportion, but in reality a lot of this game (and many other games for that matter) may have not changed if not for feedback in the first place

the game even tells players to leave feedback through the forums so obviously people are gonna make noise about things they don't like

i understand your perspective and i do think some people could express their feedback in a much healthier way, but i think i'd rather them speak their mind than not, at least from a designer point of view

anyway i wanna take longer breaks from this game but for some reason my feeble brain can't stomach the idea of losing my virtual house, so instead i find enjoyment by achievement hunting w/ friends and playing with random streamers on twitch

I have my beefs with the game, but I do think people are overblowing a lot of it. I mostly just play nowadays to raid + MSQ though, with raiding just being an excuse to get together and have some fun with people (I wouldn't bother raiding if it was all PF with randos, for example). But that's just kind of natural, aside from 2.1-2.4, I've basically been playing this since the launch of ARR.

It's amusing how they think if the current complainers leave there won't be any more complaining. As if no future patch will disappoint the people who choose to stay now. But if they care enough to bicker with people who are complaining about the game now, there is a high chance that one day they will care enough to let the devs know why they are dissatisfied with the game. Then the biggest white knights will be on the receiving end of being told to just shut up and leave. I would know.
