If you're talking specifically about ranked, then yep anything that brings in it's own damage or heals to "parse" well is going to succeed. Dragoon is great for this since a lot of people in lower ranks seem to forget about you if you run around a corner.

Common gameplan that shot me through Plat and into Diamond:
1) High Jump in and Guard, soaking enemy CC and burst
2) Elusive Jump out, throw my burst while the enemy is still tunnel visioning me
3) At low health/mana and back out of the fight for a ground pot. Most people seem to forget about me at this point.
4) Re-send burst, rinse and repeat

Usually I'm fine going in with 5k mana as long as I have Guard/Horrid Roar. But yeah, I followed that game plan to the letter on Red Sands/C9/Clocktown and it works 80% of the time. It only fails if my team gets giga cleaved on the point while 2 people do chase me and don't forget about me.
