Removal of Surnames

because my DUMBphone messed up everything. This was meant to be posted to the "FFXIV app" topic. Sorry about that.

That was not a good behavior of mine, so I'll just talk about surnames =)

I think that giving surnames to our characters can give more RP ideas and concepts to play around with our egos. I always have fun wandering into the game and do some RPing from time to time =D
Anyway, I don't know how this is a pain though, since I can only see good things coming from surnames. I like them really much.

I like having surname.
People don't have to worry about name they would like to have already being taken.
It sure helps a lot with server transfers in future too where you would most likely have to change your name.
We could have an option to hide last names only tho if "so much text on screen" really bothers some people.

Naahh...surnames are pretty sweet. It gives this game a +1 uniqueness point despite the inconvenience when /telling people.

Seems kinda silly to like something that is an invonvenience. Still think optional or removal is the best option. I still do not understand why people say it alows for multipules of the same name sure it does but its called being more original. If people were more original there would never be a problem with copies of the same name.

I like and want to keep the surnames as is, however, what should be changed is how tells are handled.

Basically instead of people having to do /tell Suirieko Mizukoshi to send tell, just /tell suirieko should be enough, and if in case there's two people with the same first name, it should go like this in example:

Cloud Lockheart
Cloud Strife

then tells like /tell Cloud would send whoever is highest alphabetically (in this case Cloud L), or sending tell like /tell Cloud L should work as well as /tell Cloud Lockheart.

Surnames finally allowed me to get a Sojiro name in an MMO (a handle i've used for other online games for years). Something that has not ever happened before. I actually like the surname system since it allows for multiple people to have the same first (or last) name.

What does it matter if people try to make clever/silly/stupid names with surnames, they would do it if they only had a single naming system as well. I'm all for an option to use them or not, just unsure how they would implement it.

One the reason they add surnames was because a lot of players hate the fact that tartar had two names slip in two. A lot of players name them self with a first and a last name to fix this and players wanting the same name this was the best idea and it seem 60% saying stay with it so leave it at that.
