So not only were our posts completely ignored, but they have now applied these changes to both his ARR and HW faces:



To say I am upset is an understatement. I do not understand why this needed to happen - at all.

THANCRED FANS:

If you are unhappy with the changes they've made to his face, please leave any further thoughts or feelings you have.

I'm going to put together an edited video which I intend to make visible everywhere I can, and I'd like to include as many fans' voices as possible. I do not want to give up on him. I am still in utter confusion about this choice and I do not understand it.

The eyes don't seem as bad as the other ones but his lips and nose still look WAY way off. :/ Really disappointing.

This is so disappointing. The fact that they actually went back to change his past appearance means they ARE aware of the changes, and went with the "easier" way instead of what was being asked for.

Very sad to see that now they've also applied the changes from the current model to all the older ones, too. The old sculpt, especially the eyes and lips, was unique. It gave him an intensity and hint of mischief that the updated appearance does not. It suited his personality and generally looked better. This did not seem like a necessary change, especially after he had that appearance for so many years.

I miss old Thancred too. I understand there's a lot to work on and I'm willing to be patient, I just hope they don't leave him like that forever.

ugh idk why they're so obssessed with the detailed philtrum, he never had one that was so prominent?? I noticed it in player faces...

Not that it wasn't prominent, you can see it on his previous model, but the shaders weren't decent enough to show it well with the old lighting engine, but
Hey, SE... The philtrum is supposed to line up with the little peaks of the upper lip. Thancred's philtrum, and cupid's bow is on the wider side and his new philtrum is now too narrow for his lip shape.

Extremely disappointed to see they not only ignored the fact that his face was changed so much in the graphics update, they still pushed his new face onto the older expac models. No other Scion had such a major change in the update and it’s really frustrating for the appearance of a major character to have either been deemed unimportant enough to change however they like, or something was ‘wrong’ with his old look somehow despite it being perfectly fine for the previous ten years. Really hoping they’ll actually adjust his model bc it’s really disconcerting to know that the Thancred I picture in my head now onto exists in only screenshots and videos.

It's been a problem across a lot of races. I posted screenshots of it in the main graphics thread on my Midlander.

It's extremely unnatural and a poor substitute for the normal-looking structure we had before.

No other Scion had such a major change in the update

Urianger looks off to me as well, and while G'raha looks fine from a distance, up close he has the same alterations made to all male Miqo'te faces to varying degrees – the original eye structure has wide-open eyelids and an odd blank space that seems intended to evoke thick eyelashes and/or shadow from them, but the new face has lowered eyelids and thick makeup added over the top.

I find fascinating and terrifying how people really picks up that level of detail and claim a whole character is ruined by it.

It is such a small detail, that is not really visible unless you stop in a cutscene with close up on his face to judge! In particular, at the Gif above, I would argue that his face is vastly better now.

So it make sense to change past ones.
But this is such a debate for such a long time and people really picked every bit of detail that was genuine impressive.

Hope you guys get a degree of satisfaction with eventual changes they may make.
