    Below is 6.5 on the left vs. 7.1 on the right.
    Sorry I don't have a closeup of the face right now (I'm sure I can find one among my ~1000 photos from before 7.0), and I'm sorry the lighting is off, but otherwise the only difference that I did myself was the eyes were one shade lighter. Oh and I removed the nose scar because they quadrupled the thickness.



    In short, thanks I hate it. I would pay a lot of money to get my old face back. Being on a PS5 means I can't even mod it back. I actually get angry looking at old pics I have. From 7.0, 7.1 did fix the "philtrum" more or less, but that's all it did. 80% of the issues still remain.


    EDIT: I am a Face 5 middie, which I guess is actually kind of rare for a midlander. Specifically, my eyes feel dead, they're also somehow smaller now. My nose has much more visible curves on the side that are very visible. I do not play JRPGs to have a realistic face. My mouth is narrower and gives off a permanent scowl, and my jaw feels narrower. The faint nose scar is now a much more pronounced battle wound that makes it unusable.




    Between this and the Dragoon changes, it feels downright hateful. Like they want me to be a different race and a different job.
    I've played this game for over 8 years and this is pain.

    Hi there,

    It appears no changes have been made to Au'ra in line with the feedback given in this thread. As a result, I'll be leaving FF14 for the time being after the completion of the latest Ultimate Raid soon to be released.

    I've always enjoyed playing this game with a focus on the story first and other content, such as raiding, second. As a result, I've become especially accustomed to seeing my character in cutscenes, paying close attention to key moments in the story. However, it's clear that the changes made don't align with the 'graphics upgrade' as initially advertised. Key characteristics of characters have simply been changed as opposed to upgraded (via resolution increases or polygon counts). One such example is the fixation of having female Au'ra pupils be significantly larger. Multiple Au'ra players have given feedback that that they want the size reduced. After logging on today, I can see that no change was made. Other feedback included the fact that the schlera (whiteness of the eyes) is more of a grey than a white and only becomes slightly whiter when light is shone on the face to an extreme degree. You can see an example in this post further down.

    To quote the feedback I gave previously:

    1. The pupils are too big/dilated. They were originally small. This changes the way the character looks. Please bring this back or add an option to make the pupils bigger or smaller.

    2. The colour of the umbral ring is much darker and not easily replaceable. My character was directly imported, and the colour is significantly darker. This colour can no longer be replicated as there are not many colours for blue. This blue was important as it represented the colour we’ve seen come up in the story multiple times with significant story relevance.

    3. The corners of the lips are no longer turned up. This makes the characters expression change from slightly happy to neutral or expressionless.
    On top of the existing requests, more changes have been made to limbal rings so that its now super bright. I can no longer see the blue colour - I just see a bright white. I'm not sure why this change was made? It was bad before and its even worse now.


    Below is the change. You can see in the DT picture on the left, the character looks significantly worse and playing around with the lighting does not lead to good results.

    Characters have, in general, been beautified or whatever the designer views as "beauty". Impressions of characters have been lost as a result.

    Thank you for your continued work in implementing feedback changes. However, for me, the changes have missed the mark since the expansion launched, with no adjustments made despite repeated feedback from all communities (ENG/JPN/FRE/DE).

    I can only hope that when I return after my time away after the ultimate that more of the feedback has been implemented as opposed to being ignored whether accidentally or purposefully.

    They made ZERO changes to female hrothgar. They look exactly the same. The faces on both male and female have always looked harsher in a direct light source due to the fur. I've just checked my girl and she is identical in 7.1 as she was in 7.0

    Normal maps aren't 100% but Sko for SURE is actually *Sko* again. 90% of the way there.

    I don't know what exactly they did because I don't have a screenshot on hand to do a 1:1 comparison, but my miqote looked great in 7.0 (luckily because most people weren't as fortunate) but 7.1 messed up her lips and made them way too full and wide. Her eyes are also shaped weirdly. I really wish there was a way for me to roll it back. Below is the current look.



    Specifically the lower lip is way too big and the mouth is just slightly wider in general. I'm still on the luckier side I feel like because some people's characters were unfortunately hit much worse.

    What I really don't get is since these new adjustments are to the new 7.0 models, why didn't we just get these as new options in the charater creator instead of them being forced on our characters?

    small victory before I have to take off for work: it LOOKS like they did reduce the insanely overtuned shine on dark skin. I haven't tested it in all lighting but it seems way less drastic on my guy then it did before, and like they maybe tuned down the skin mottling on male midlanders (I'm not the best person to check though since my wol's skintone is dark enough to hide most of it to begin with.) All in all I'm seeing some improvements and I'm hopeful that if we keep at the other issues they can be reworked in coming patches as well.

    Face 1 middie changes are a bit more subtle (very subtle) than I was hoping but they are better. It FEELS better in game, but I feel like my screenshots don't really show a difference especially to someone who doesn't play a Face 1 middie. To me at least, it feels like her face shape feels a little more like "her." I can tell they got rid of some of the weird puffiness, and her lip shape has improved a smidge closer to the original.

    I would still like to see lip shapes improved further, to be clear.

    this is very comparable to how I feel overall about my male midlander. it FEELS more like him, but I'm struggling to quantify why and what changes have been improvements. Definitely more to be done, but its a step in the right direction.

    Hello. I just made a thread about Keeper of the Moon Face type 2 and how their eyebrows have been changed (and ONLY face 2 was changed in this way).
    I made one before 7.1, but it did not have "sufficient information". So this is round two that I am posting now. If anyone knows what I can do to make sure that a potential round 3 is not rejected, please offer your insights.
