    I think this is largely due to the new lighting engine and was something I noticed in the benchmark character creator when testing my femra. When there's ample ambient lighting the limbal ring is indistinct, but in darker/night lighting it's much more prominent, like bioluminescence or radium glow-in-the-dark stuff.

    See if adjusting the lighting in the portrait improves the appearance of the eyes.

    First thing I tried bud - I messed around with it so much xd

    It doesn't really get better. If you shine the light so it hits the eyes to the point your character might aswell be a light warden with how much white light is on their face, then and only then does the eye whites look... white : d

    You can't get this look anymore because the whites of the eyes are so dark now.
