    This is honestly maddening. They really adjust jobs under the assumption that every player is like, the stupidest, smallest child in the world. I also hate their modern anti-nerf philosophy for newer jobs (Pictomancer...), which has definitely been driving some of these changes. I wish they could give me faith in any aspect of this game right now.

    Remember how they said they'd buff every job instead of nerf Picto but in this patch all you get is a black mage buff that amounts to less than a percent of damage increase lol

    SGE- hey square enix we literally have no niche over SCH who does more damage, has better utility and a kit that is infinitely better designed for ultimate prog than ours and with WHM’s inherent advantage in downtime heavy ultimates we are worried we don’t have a niche. Can you help us out?

    Square enix- best I can do is reduce everyone’s MP cost on spells which benefits SCH more than you and reduce holy’s cast time which shreds the last vestiges of good design in lilys please look forward to it

    I've always tried to give SE the benefit of the doubt but I think it's safe to say anyone hoping for the job simplification to be reverted in 8.0 can think again. Clearly their goal for job design is to make everything playable by a monkey banging on a keyboard and they double down on it every patch. It's really sad to see because the interesting job design is what got me hooked on this game to begin with.

    Just because a job has downsides or even a ability might need prior knowledge of the fight to use effectively all the time doesn't mean it needs changes, at this point theirs actually no reason to have jobs outside of "tank", "melee" "range" "healer" might as well make the current jobs just different animation packs. Because genuinely what's actually the point of new different jobs outside of flashy animations?

    I'm not against removing certain "annoying" things but removing all gameplay friction, complexity and unique upsides/downsides gets to the point where everything feels watered down and the same. No one was PF Locking Ninjas out because of Ten Chi Jin, Theirs no reason to actually make this change.

    It was the last straw that showed me there is zero chance of jobs being good again. Not with these designers. There is no way anyone who wants jobs to have engaging gameplay would make that kind of change so it's clear that is not their priority anymore. The game today isn't being made for the people who enjoy things like that and all the disliked aspects of job design are intentional. Those who are waiting for 8.0 are coping and should probably just cut their losses now and not invest another $300 on this game waiting for it to get better in two years. It's never going to be the same as it was in the past.
