It's not really that. It's more "SE, why can someone in their free time do what you refuse to do?"

Because it's free work done by someone else, so it doesn't cost them money, time and/or resources to apply a 'fix'.
Unless, of course, they start to have you pay for such QoL things. Then SE likely will drop a Cease and Desist on them, and we are back on status quo.
